Three movers showed up, listened to our concerns, plugged into our organization and got on with it.  We had bulky, awkward pieces that were handled gracefully.  They may adjustments to avoid risking our art work.  The exceptional part was a handcrafted desk they recommended we find a skilled woodworker to move, as they didn't feel comfortable doing it themselves.  While I would like to have been able to move it, I always appreciate it when someone tells me they don't don't know, rather than wasting time, money and aggravation finding it out.  I don't believe in using hope as the plan.  Ultimately I will probably save money and time rather than spending money to fix a disaster later.   My suggestion:   i anticipated this problem, but had no way of informing Metro of it before the move.  It would be nice if they had an individual on call for this type of thing.
I would recommend this group anytime.

Charles did respond and immediately returned all my phone calls. He was professional over the phone when I asked him for an initial quote. I described what I wanted: 40% of the attic Items moved from my attic to the garage and the remaining 60% moved to their truck for donation. I also requested a few items to be moved from my garage to the truck for donation. He quoted me "about $60-$80 per hour" for the job. Our attic is less than 100 sq ft, approximately the size of a small bedroom. It was not completely filled with items (about 75% full). He was 30 minutes late; however not that big of an issue.  He brought what I am assuming was his son (about 12 years old) and an older gentleman not exactly the moving crew I was expecting. As he begun moving items, he completely changed his story requesting more money stating he charged $90/hour. He kept stating he would need more and more money. Complaining how much more work it was than he had anticipated.  They completed the job in 2 hours and 10minutes. I think pretty average with a man, older man, and a young child for 1 bedroom. We also helped move items into the garage as they brought them from the attic. I paid him $200, above and beyond his original quote AND his "new" quote. Unfortunately, the donation centers were closed, so I had to keep my items to be donated on his truck. When we met him at the donation center, he requested $500 for the job...which was 2 hours and 10 minutes. He was extremely unprofessional and I believe a conman. Be careful! I ended up paying him an additional $100 (for a total of $300 because he kept the items on his truck overnight and he had to drive to more than one donation center less than 1 mile apart). He kept arguing. My husband got out of the car and stepped to my rescue. We gave him an additional $60 in cash to stop arguing and we left! Please be careful using this gentleman and his crew! He will con you out of every cent!!!

The movers were very professional from the beginning till the end.  I hired 3 Men and all 3 came and introduced themselves and shook my hand and were very clean cut and polite.  We walked through the house showing them everything that needs to be moved then they explained all the charges and rates and then started the time clock (which is nice because some movers start the clock the minute they pull up to your house).  They were very careful with boxes labeled FRAGILE and took their time to ensure everything was loaded and unloaded without incident.  Every item they unloaded they asked where it should be placed in the new house to ensure it's where it should be.  They even offered to move anything around after they had unloaded.  It took almost exactly 4 hours to load and unload all of our items from a 3 bedroom townhouse to a smaller 2 bedroom townhouse. I would definitely use Metro Movers again for a local move and I'm not sure why you would want to go with another company if you were moving in the New Orleans or Metairie area.  None of our items they loaded or unloaded were damaged.

Metro Movers sent a delightful couple (Lilly & Greg) who completed the task.  Lilly called me a coupe of days before the job to solidify the time and location.  They arrived on time and had more than enough materials with them for the job.  Since I had my own rental truck and help for loading, they quickly packed all my items (no crating or wrapping large furniture ~ which was fine) while my friends and I loaded the truck.  They began at 9:00 in the morning and were finished by 2:00 p.m. Very fast considering the small kitchen items, books and wine I own!  The only real break they took was when I personally brought them burgers from a local fast food restaurant and asked them to please eat. Since the price I was quoted included the boxes, they did not "under pack" like so many moving companies I've used in the past just to use more boxes or tape.  I have since unpacked everything in my new home and was delighted (but not surprised) that nothing spilled or was broken.  When they collected the payment, it was exactly as Metro quoted over the phone.  No hidden charges.  I did include a little more, however, because I was so pleased with their efficiency. I would recommend Metro Movers simply on this experience.  If their other services (moving, loading, etc...) are performed by people as great as Lilly & Greg, I'm certain it will be A+ service!!

The owner answered my first phone call right away and his assistant faxed the quote to me the same day. They were the cheapest, very timely, didn't waste time, finished earlier than expected and knew my exact destination and very friendly.

The folks at Metro Movers are helpful, friendly, and courteous, and reasonably priced. I've used their services several times and recommended them to others, all with great success. Once, they even moved a friend of mine on their day off during football playoffs because she was in a real bind, terrific people.
