So I decided to go to them for my dog's booster. I got there a little bit early and they were very pleasant and friendly with me and my dog. They got me in right on time WITH the vet there. In my past experiences with other vets, I see a technician on time with my appointment, but have to wait a bit for the vet. Anyways, I immediately saw a vet and he was very friendly, giving the shot no problem. Then he spent some time going over what kind of health concerns dogs in Louisiana have as opposed to dogs where I'm from up North.
Overall I was very pleased with my visit and am glad that I chose Lakeview Veterinary Hospital.

My cat received excellent care at Lakeview Veterinary Hospital and we will continue to use them for our needs.
I scheduled this visit for dental cleaning and for possible teeth extractions. The Vet told me that multiple extractions were very probable.
I dropped off my pet early on Wednesday, Aug 10, 2011, and signed consent forms allowing the Vet to extract teeth as necessary.
The Vet called me around noon to say the dog was fine, but she had to extract 5 of my dog's nine teeth -- and told me that she would have extracted more teeth but the jaw was too fragile with bone loss to do anything more at this time. The Vet said to pick up my dog between 4:30 and 5:00pm that afternoon. I had a bunch of questions -- but the Vet cut these questions short and said we could visit when I picked up the dog.
I arrived at the Vet around 4:45pm. After a 10 or 15 min wait, I was brought into an exam room and told by a staff member who wore an ID Tag that said and quot;Nancyand quot; (with no professional designation) that the Vet -- Dr. Leto -- was attending to an emergency and so she would check us out.
Nancy told us our dog suffered what was probably an allergic reaction to penicillin -- the first that I heard of this -- and that benedryl was administered and our dog seemed to be responding. However, we were warned to watch for further facial swelling.
At this point, I mentally checked out with Nancy.
Here I was with a 13 year-old-dog who is compromised with heartworms and who just had 5 of her 9 teeth extracted (and only five because her jaw was too fragile to extract more) and who just had suffered an allergic reaction to penecillin and who was being sent home with three prescriptions and one follow-up oral proceedure --- and I wasn't able to see the Vet? This is not a sole proprietorship --- there are 5 Vets listed on the website -- so I presume one of the Vets should have been able to meet with me, But I was mistaken. No Vet would meet with me, but I insisted that Dr Leto should call me sometime later. Guess what? No call from Dr Leto.
My bill for today's services was nearly $700 - but for that amount of money I was not able to see Dr Leto.
So if you are considering to entrust your pet's care to Dr Leto and Lakeview Vets, be forewarned that $700 doesn't buy you any face time with a Vet -- even if your pet is a special needs animal and even if your pet suffered an adverse reaction in surgery. My dog has only 4 teeth left in her mouth and I had a bunch of questions about feeding and about calcium supplementation -- but all my questions are unanswered.
I am shocked that I was not able to meet with a Vet after my pet's operation -- and I hope that Lakeview Vet takes some corrective action to insure that its patients are discharged from surgery with a face-to-face visit from a Vet.
"This case has been thoroughly reviewed by the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine and no wrongdoing was found. The reviews of every other business by this particular individual speak for themselves,as do the cumulative reviews of Lakeview Veterinary Hospital."
