J&J Exterminating

It is nearly impossible to contact this company & the office customer service is horrendous! Please answer the phone, call back, and get rid of the receptionist/phone answer woman! Over the years it has been the same. The service techs that come to my house get an A+. They have been conscientious, professional, genuinely friendly, and hard working, pulling all the bait stations for inspection & replacement if necessary, answering my questions, etc... However, if you call J&J there is an endless automated phone message that does not offer what I need (To talk to someone), and it often eventually just hangs up on me. Sometimes it will go to 'Leave a Message' but no one calls back. On the 1 in 20 chance the woman answers the phone she is brusque, unhelpful, and will not allow you to talk to anyone else. The preverbal straw was when someone called me, when I was away from home, and left a voicemail saying that they had tried to contact me 'numerous times' (NOT TRUE! - I have both voice mail & caller ID on both my home & cell phones.) and were cancelling my contract for non-payment! If they would answer the phone I will pay my bill. ~ This could all be avoided if they hire a competent receptionist.

  One visit was said to have taken place without me being there.  Which means they did not look at the back of the house.  For last two years I called to set up the yearly inspection.  The office was to have the inspector contact me.  This never happened.  Other than the annual letters prompting my yearly payment, there is no communication from the company, not even when I've requested it.

I think they are good and they are great at communicating before they come out for treatments.

The actual technician who did the work seemed like a nice enough guy and a hard worker, although I had some questions about the thoroughness of the work. For Termidor treatment to provide the protection it promises, holes must be drilled in all concrete block piers of a raised building and liquid termicide injected. It was not evident that this happened. The real problem is with J&J's executive and sales staff. They re-scheduled the treatment three times. One morning they were supposed to come, so I took off work to meet them. No show. Had to re-schedule for a different day and take off work again! Every time you call J&J, you get a different person picking up the phone. No one seemed to know how to get a hold of Ira, the specific salesperson with whom I had worked to set up this treatment. It's a very disjointed service experience from beginning to end -- no steady personal contact throughout the experience (from estimate to scheduling the service to performance of the service). The salesperson promised that all paperwork (bill, description of treatment, annual contract for termite inspection, which comes with the treatment) would be faxed to me in advance. It was not. I gave the salesperson all my business and personal contact information. It is now a week after the treatment was completed, and I still have no paperwork (including no bill). J&J is seriously lacking in terms of communicativeness, punctuality, and organization. They disrespected my time. No one seemed to know about my file whenever I called them -- they must not have a centralized customer database. Also, their prices aren't significantly cheaper than anyone else's, so it's not like there's a major savings that might cause a customer to overlook the other problems to get a bargain. I got three estimates for this service and they were all about the same, since the price is based on how many linear feet are around your house. Do yourself a favor and use another pest exterminator like Pied Piper -- the price will be about the same.

for the first visit which would have been aug/sept they came and checked on the traps as contracted. From that moment on they had to be called routinely to get them to visit. That is up until December/January when it took several calls to get them to schedule an appointment and actually show up (having missed a visit without calling to reschedule). That was the last time that they came. I Called them in April and they informed me that they had changed services to come every 3rd month and that they would come out in May. May came and I hadn't heard from them...so I started calling....and calling ....and calling....and although I always spoke with a woman...the standard line was....I will have the service individual call you right back to schedule....NO CALL EVERY CAME I called in JUNE every 4 out of 5 days the first week of June....always being told that "the service individual would call me back immediately" never happened. I called them today as I received my renewal contract in the mail. I asked them if it was possible to speak with the manager and the same woman, once again told me....she would pass my message on. Still no call. I will be canceling my contract (although I know I will have to pay to have a new system inplace)..what option do I have in order to protect my investment in my home!
