I have been having problems with a Nortiz tankless hot water heater for 2 years. It was installed by a normal plumber (i.e. not one listed on the Noritz website as a service provider). I talked with Alex of JC Services AC on the phone, and he immediately gave me a list of common problems that he has seen when tankless hot water heaters are installed by normal plumbers, instead of plumbers with specific training. There is a lot more to it then just hooking up some pipes!
On this occasion, Alex just flushed out the scale from the Noritz unit. He said this is good annual preventative maintenance, but was not what I needed to do to get my unit working at full capacity again. However, he thinks he diagnosed the problem (that 2 other normal plumbers and a general contractor missed) and I will absolutely bring him back to fix the unit.
I would definitely recommend him.

JC Services was not the cheapest bid we received, but went with them because the owner really sold their knowledge and willingness to go above and beyond for a lifetime customer. The plumber that they sent was very nice, but an idiot. Three times he turned on water while pipes were open, reunion the mortar bed for a shower. he dinged the newly reglazed tub, installed rough in for the faucet knob upside down, could not get the bath room sink to stop leaking, the fall on the drain line isn't adequate for drainage. In the laundry room, he ran the pipes in front of the wall instead of in the wall, so it can't be covered with drywall. I didn't discover this right away, because it was behind the washer. The owner insisted on being paid in full and never offered to fix any of the problems. We never use them again.
