"[Member Name Removed], Thank you for your positive review! It was a real pleasure working with you and doing your floors, and we are so pleased that you are happy with the floors and the process. Call us anytime!"
I think the experience of having a problem and the way they dealt with it really tells the story of this company to me. They are very good at what they do, but if there's a problem they handle it promtly and professionally. I would absolutely use them again.
I called to confirm they would be showing up and Ed returned my call to confirm. The workers arrived on time and we went through the details and they go to work.
Part of this job involved moving 2 very large heavy antique armoires (which I paid more for them to do). They moved them without damaging them.
The first day they removed the carpet, sanded and put one coat of sealant down. Their dust containment system is excellent. No dust anywhere in the house! Tony warned us the sealant fumes would be potent so we stayed out of the house for a few hours that evening.
The floors look amazing!
Work was started promply repairs were addressed first. When repairs and sanding were done, refinishing was started. At that time i realized the additional area was not sanded and called that to the attention of the techs. They did not have that on their work order so called someone to check and get approval. The son called me and explained he had forgotten to put it on the work order but did have it included in the estimate. That section was then repaired. (poorly) On completion of the refinishing of all areas i was very disatisfied with the results. The sanding on all repaired areas had very noticable leave off marks on the floor and the finish was discolored and uneven. I informed the tech that i was very unsatisfied with the work and would not accept the job as it stood. He agreed with my opinion of the work and assigned the fault to the method he was told to use to repair the areas and the bad finishing on help he had that he was not used to working with. He said he would have to contact his boss to get direction and suggested i call him as well.
The owner called me and assured me the poor work would be corrected and the finish would be improved by doing additional coats of oil base with water base overlay. At that time i asked him if he had seen the job himself, that i thought he should see it before any more work was done. He told me he had gone over everything with the tech and explained what procedures they would take and again assured me the work would be satisfactory.
When everything was finished it was indeed improved. However, their remains areas that the repairs are very noticable with both uneven coloring and sanding in the middle of a nice floor.
I waited a couple of days to here from the owner afer the job was completed then sent the balance due. To my knowledge, at no time was the owner or his son on the job with their employees and i feel this led directly to additional work, time and poor results.
"I visited the job with the member as soon as I knew there was a problem and am sending our best color person out to address it. The Job was done with a spot or area refinishing to lower the cost but it's sometimes difficult to get an exact match. We did additional repair work at no charge because of the customer's inconvenience. We rely on our employees experience and skill in their craft to run their jobs without our being with them and we go out as needed which is infrequent, thankfully'"
The crew that did the work was professional and did a great job of replacing the boards, sanding, staining the new boards to match the original boards, and coating it with three polyurethane coats. They even had to replace a few more boards than we thought they would need to, but did not charge me more than the original estimate. The result is beautiful -- none of our furniture seems worthy of the floor.
Floorcrafters' price was slightly less than Ron Del's estimate and I appreciated Ed's knowledge and willingness to think through my options with me. My sense from talking to friends who've worked with both is that they're comparable in terms of what you get. I can't imagine being more satisfied -- my wife considers it one of our best purchases ever.
"Thank you very much for your review. We apologize for the delay you experienced, and hope that we might make the inconvenience up to you. At times, when working with multiple historic and pre-1900's homes at the same time, needs can arise that throw our schedule off. We are glad that you were pleased with the work, but regret that we did not communicate more effectively about the delay. Please contact us to discuss how we might increase your satisfaction."
