QUOTING: The assessment and quoting process went smoothly. I was given a clear itemized quote with fairly priced upgrade options. Category 5 answered a number of questions and concerns and had the best price of 3 fence-specific contractors. The only downside is they required a 60% deposit to get on the schedule. TIMING: After putting down the sizable deposit, I was told work would begin in 2-3 weeks. They finally got to me almost 5 weeks later. The crew performed 2.5 days of work and then didn't show two days in a row. The contractor couldn't even get a hold of them. The remaining work was completed 6 calendar days after the start. I felt "out-of-the-loop" during that time. QUALITY: All 3 runs are straight and the boards are level. They went quite deep (>2.5') with all the posts and used a lot of concrete. There are some noticeably darker boards which give an unfortunate patchwork look to the fence. OTHER: I have tire tracks in my yard from where they backed up their trailer to make access easier. I also found cigarette butts casually strewn where my dog and young daughter play. OVERALL: Seems like a decent contractor but a bad crew. I graded accordingly because vetting and controlling the crew is precisely why I hired a contractor.
