I had three contracts with this company. The owner, Chuck Dwyer "quit" the job after the first contract was fulfilled (poorly) and left my electrical work half-undone. Apparently in his mind quitting a job means you get to keep the deposit. He still has $13,290 of mine and refuses to return calls, emails, texts or voicemails. See the details below. If anyone would like photos of videos of the terrible work, let me know, it is very well documented. *** Shady contractor with subs that do sub-par shoddy work. I hired Chuck Dwyer to do work on my double shotgun home in New Orleans in October 2017. Since I am not a rich person I started construction on one half of my house and planned to move on to the other half when one side was complete. Chuck's crew shoddily completed one half of the house. I'm talking trim with nails sticking out everywhere, cuts so off no amount of caulk in the world could make it look right, door trim that doesn't even touch the floor, seriously, ever hear of taking an accurate measurement before making a cut? Tile installation that looked like a drunk blind person did the work. Prior to me realizing how terrible his workers are I signed another contract with him and stupid me, I gave him deposit. If I had known at the time the work would be so bad or he would steal over $13,000 from me I would have never signed. Stupid trusting me. In November 2017, we agreed on a final contract that would complete the other side of my house. At signing I paid Chuck a deposit in the sum of $13,290 on that contract. Now it is mid February 2018 and he has yet to fulfill it. The last thing I heard from him three weeks ago (the end of January 2018) was, "I quit, I'm taking my name off the permits and you aren't getting **** back.". I also have a separate and open electrical contract with him that was only halfway completed. There are live wires hanging everywhere in my house, giant gaping holes in walls where no wires were ever run, damaged switches and outlets and switches that go to nothing. When his electrical crew initially showed up to do the work, these "electricians" came in smashing holes all over my sheetrock, even walls that were not in the contract to be replaced, in short costing me more money. Now I have gaping holes and no electrical work was even done. Oh! This is a great part of the story too! His crew literally left my house unlocked at least 7 times, no amount of asking them to please lock the doors and windows would help. On one such occasion I came home from Alabama over Thanksgiving and my backdoor was literally swinging in the breeze. It gets better...his invoicing? Wow. No logos on some of them, no dates, no format, handwritten numbers with details that are scribbled out then re-written by hand. Oh and this guy literally had the nerve to show up to my house asking for checks without invoices half the time. When I finally told him if he wanted a check he had to show up with an invoice he got very weird and almost seemed offended. I hindsight, why did I do business with this person? Stupid me, I was trusting. Do you want the best part? He was a referral from a friend of a friend. Long story short, do yourself a favor and don't get robbed, walk away from this one.

My husband and I built our home in 2010 and as our family has grown, so did our need for more living space. We desperately needed a bonus room to use as another family room and have enough space for the kids' toys and for entertaining. We were EXTREMELY hesitant about hiring a contractor however, because our original home-builders were not trustworthy and had poor workmanship. Our home is only 3 years old and we have had too many problems to list here concerning repairs we have had to make due to shoddy and careless workmanship. Our original plan was to sell and buy another home, but we like the area we live in so we decided to find a contractor, but this time we were committed to finding just the right company. My husband called about 20 different local general contractors and out of those 20 called, about 15 actually responded. Out of those 15, Chuck Dwyer with CANDA Construction was one of two companies that promptly returned phone calls and emails. His quotes were easy to read, straightforward, and within our budget. Another plus for me, was that everything was SPELLED correctly in the quote! The first impression Chuck gives upon meeting him is that he is friendly, trustworthy, diligent, precise, and honest. It felt as if he was almost too good to be true! But, it WAS true! The budget and time frame he gave us were accurate. He was here every day with a tool belt on, directing his team and making sure everything was done correctly. In the middle of our job, Chuck had to go out of town, but before he left, he and his crew worked 2 - twelve hour days and 1- fourteen hour day to get the job to a certain point to stay on time and budget. Now, that's commitment to excellence y'all! Every single person Chuck brought onto the job site was courteous, diligent, and performed excellent workmanship. You didn't see a crew standing around smoking every 10 minutes or constantly knocking on the door asking for anything. They came here prepared to work and work they did. I am at home during the day with my children and some days, I didn't even know they were here! You won't hear loud music or loud mouths. Chuck also keeps a CLEAN job site. Every day, the work area was swept and materials stacked neatly in piles. The painter that works with him is amazingly precise with his work. I am a perfectionist and I couldn't find one mistake by the painters. Chuck's communication is excellent! If he sees an issue, he is going to let you know and then work with you to get it resolved. If something is off by a centimeter, he is going to start over until it's correct. Anytime my husband or I had a question, he was never too busy to talk it out. His manner is very calming and cheerful. He was never defensive when asked a zillion questions. He was here on our job for a total of 8 weeks and now when he knocks on the door, my youngest son who is 15 months old runs to meet Chuck when he sees him and reaches up to be held. Chuck will just scoop him right up and play with him. As a mother, that gives me great peace of mind that my children are so comfortable with him. They trust him and so do my husband and I. I can't begin to describe the peace of mind that Chuck has given us concerning our addition. We know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this job was done properly and according to code. It's beyond refreshing to meet someone who takes pride in their workmanship and goes above and beyond what is required to do the job well. I feel like we've made a new friend in Chuck and his wife, Ann who works with him. He is someone we trust and our trust is not easy to earn. Thank you Chuck for making this the best experience we've ever had with construction!
