"Thank you so much! We strive to educate and provide valuable information. I'm glad we could be of assistance to you! Emily Abry Barre'"
It looked as though the core work was done very well. I was displeased that my azaleas and night booming jasmine were destroyed - possibly the contract addressed this, but had it been pointed out more directly, I may have sought some way to salvage, at least in part. Also, the work was left unpainted, so there is an area of the porch that does not match the rest. Again, maybe not in scope of contract, but this would be a nice thing to offer. Who wants to line up another contractor? Finally, they seemed more anxious than most on payment, and when I first asked about giving a payment over the phone they were hesitant (credit card or check). They suggested leaving the payment in the mailbox (not really authorized use of mailbox). I ended up sending an electronic bank check which hopefully gets there within their required 10 day window. But, of course, I wanted to take a look at the work before leaving/sending a payment.
That said, they were otherwise nice to work with, and the core work seems well done. They also left me with a nice T-Shirt.
To make up for the time lost due to issues on his end, Juan and his team arrived on time, ON A SUNDAY and worked throughout the day. (they were there through the beginning of the super-bowl!)
The team stayed in contact with me via phone and text, and completed the job as promised. It may just be me, but my home feels more solid and stable as i walk throughout. I feel confident that should any issues arise with the work that was performed they can be counted on to make good.
The crews cleaned up after themselves every day and worked quickly.
Most importantly, Emily and Jeff were honest and trustworthy throughout the entire process.
I gave the full report along with COLOR photos to the GC and he hired ABRY BROTHERS to fix everything. The job started and I called Abry Brothers to make sure they received the report and they refused to talk to me since they stated their contract was with my GC. I'm not sure if they ever received my report but on their estimate it stated they did their own inspection.
Well, since I am a Realtor I am used to foundation repairs and I frequently peek under houses before my clients buy them to get a general idea of work that may need to be done. I have also renovated other homes and am pretty knowledgable about the process. (of course this is the first time I hired a GC instead of subcontracting things myself)
I honestly thought Abry Brothers quote was outrageous. However, my husband wanted to get it done and since the GC didn't call them until all of the sheetrock was floated and painted, he said he would only repair any cracks if we used Abry Brothers. We felt forced to use them. (Just a reminder, I have been asking the GC to do this for months before the sheetrock event went it...this is a whole other story)
Long story short, the work is extremely subpar and I can't wait to post these photos for you. Basically you can have absolutely no knowledge of a foundation at all and the shoddy work and defects are glaring.
I am obviously upset. I have mentioned this to my GC several times and I have had no feedback so I decided to write this review......$5,000 down the drain for a job that should have been $1500 at the most!
