"I met with Mr [Member Name Removed] twice. Once for the estimate and once to do the work.both times I mentioned the possibility of cracking or chipping the granite by doing the repair.when I started the repair; I had lifted the piece as much as possible to remove the existing silicone and adhesive , but Mr [Member Name Removed] wanted the piece completely removed.that is how it chipped.from the very beginning my price was 150.00 or you could've called the original co that install the granite.as far as my punctuality, the appointment time was at 10 am.I call Mr [Member Name Removed] at 9.30 am and it took him 10 minutes to return my call, and I told him that I had to work late the day before. I also informed him that I had to make a quick stop, so I was checking to see if he still wanted me to come out or just reschedule. he was open to us keeping our appointment and I arrived at 10.40. Not an hour and half late. very sorry Mr [Member Name Removed] was unsatisfied"
"I was truly shocked and dismayed when I read the unfavorable review that I received. In the first place , I did not do any work for this gentleman! I returned his deposit check to him when it became obvious to me that I would not be able to exercise my more than 30 years of professional experience in doing the high quality work that I have always done. This gentleman was second guessing me everything I wanted to do ! He fancied himself as knowing more about how the job should be done than I did! In any case, I am disappointed that I could not please this gentleman. I have always prided myself in delivering the highest quality job at a very reasonable price. Until now, my customers have always appreciated the fine work that I do and have recommended me to family and friends. I plan to continue in this tradition and, after more than 30 years , I have no interest in degrading my standard of work excellence to accommodate the rare exception who wants speed at the expense of quality !"
He was very interesting to talk to, although I tried to leave him alone and not hover. The Man is obviously a Professional and doesn't need overseeing.
He was very concious of engaging me in some decisions to be made, but did not try and influence me one way or another to make his job easier. I left it up to his judgement and it was the correct choice. The guy knows what he is doing.
I am using him again in a week or so to fix a tile shower stall that was botched by a previous contractor.
I could not be happier. I wanted this new fireplace to look old and original to the house.
It does.
A little about me:
I have been in the Construction Industry 30 years. I have seen it all. As a Female I am used to being "talked down to."
Ted Johnson was totally equal with me and respected my experience. I appreciate that.
Hire Him. He may not be the cheapest...buy he's probably the best.
"Mr. was a very picky client to please l explained every detailed as l was working . the big problem was the walls very uneven .he and l talk about it he understood."
After a detailed discussion, I accepted his offer and made a down payment to order materials. When the materials arrived, Ted called and gave me a work schedule. He arrived when promised and worked steadily. He was very conscious of details and took no shortcuts. Since I was present for the work, he explained why he did all the things that he did, and his 30+ years of
experience became clearly obvious to me. My particular job involved breaking multi-colored quarry tile to create a mosaic
pattern, and he took pains to arrange the colors and shapes of the broken tiles to create a very pleasant and attractive pattern.
The job took a total of 4 days and throughout the job, I was impressed with his attention to detail and his obsession with keeping the work area very clean. I would recommend Ted to anyone and, he is in my opinion, one of a few remaining
craftsmen who take pride in doing an outstanding job for his customers.
