MCC MECHANICAL LLC

Description of Work: My A/C froze up, and I know nothing about this business so I called MCC after being told the building I live in used it for commercial repairs for rentals. Response was ok, although the technician called me while working on another unit in the building asking me to be available rather than scheduling an appointment. My girlfriend had to come over to let him in as I was at work. The technician explained over the phone I had a leak in my evaporator and claimed it would cost approximately $1500 to repair over 8 hours. When I explained I couldn't take that much time off work anytime soon, he said he might be able to do it in 2 hours over a weekend for $1800. Luckily while I was on the phone a co-worker overheard the conversation (who was the son of an A/C repair man) and told me what was going on was shady. They still tried to bill me $300 for a tap up on the liquids to keep it running a day or two, but when I got a second opinion I was told the only reason my A/C quit working was because of a dirty air filter, and also tapped up the freeon because the MCC guy never had to begin with. I held off on passing judgement for awhile, but it's worked perfectly since without a welding job to the evaporator. When I confronted MCC management I got a run-around and told that my A/C would break down soon (between 3 days and 3 years based on their estimates, REALLY?) and relented to not charge me. What a Scam! In their defense they've been in business a long time and serve a great part of the community, but this service was a total joke. I just don't understand the motivation; if it was the serviceman unless he works on commission or something, or the company itself condones this behavior.
