When the binds came in they were too short and too narrow for the window. One side was so off that I could see my neigbor walk out of his back door to the car with the blinds down. As for the lenght they were not quite even touching the bottom of the window. She was pulling on the fabric to strech it out and make it touch. Then she told me not to worry when the fabric streches out it will be longer. When I told her the measurements were not acceptable she said she would not return them. If Iwanted them corrected I could pay 50% more to have the corrections done. I told her to take the blinds and leave. She was raising her voice to me and to her co worker. She was acting irrational and arguing with no desire to fix the problem. I called Budget Blinds the franchisor and they were basically zero help saying that its Brenda's business and she needs to handle. Terrible product and terrible service.
08/13/2014 This is a response to the vendor's comments. We did not "lose" the credit card dispute. The card company cant move forward without a second opinion and I do not have possession of the roman shade to get a second opinion. Ive asked that the roman shades be returned. If the card company cant resolve the charge issue per their guidelines, then I plan to file the dispute in Orleans small claims. In addition I see that she still defends the measurements as correct. The blinds were too short and too narrow. With the blinds down I watched my neighbor walk out of his house and get into his car through the space between blind and wall. She could have resolved this whole issue by correcting her bad work. Instead she asked for 50% more to correct. Blinds were already $736. Not interested in an addition $300 plus to correct. This person is a franchisee of Budget Blinds. Beware that Budget Blinds has taken the position to not get involved in the business of their franchisees.
"I did go [member name removed] home where I measured her window opening, showed her fabric samples and roman shade styles. She told me she was familiar with roman shades because she had them in her previous home. She showed me pictures of the type of styles of roman shades that she liked and that she had saved in her phone. We settled on a style and discussed it at length. I suggested outside mounting the shade but she wanted it mounted inside the jambs. I ordered the shade to her specifications. This is a custom made product. When we installed she looked at it , said she didn't like it and then asked if it could have it lengthened. She said she would like it better if it had 2 or 3 extra folds on the bottom-which translates to 12-18 extra inches. I explained to her that roman shades are never made to be longer than the window length. She wanted to have it remade and I explained that it couldn't be altered it would have to be totally remade from scratch. Yes it was custom and if she wanted it made that way she would have had to tell me that before it was ordered not after it was made.Also I told her that had she wanted the shade made with extra length she probably wouldn't like the result because the extra bulk sitting in the window sill would cause the shade to bulge forward outside of the opening and would be unattractive. As far as the charge that the measurements were wrong -they are not. ALL inside mounted window treatments are made slightly less wide than the window opening because windows aren't always square. Also you have to have room for your mounting system. If you make a shade the exact size of the window it would be impossible to fit it into the window. If you could get it in the window it would rub on the sides of the jamb damaging the shade. As to the length it was exact- I was not pulling on it - I was dressing the shade so it wouldn't be wrinkled. It had been boxed up and I was helping the fabric to relax not trying to lengthen the shade. I called the manufacturer from her home in an attempt to work with her on a resolution. They agreed to remake the shade for her in a different style at half price even they were not at fault. The shade is beautifully made. There is nothing wrong with it. It was made to her specifications to fit window-which it did. She told me to take the shade down so we did. Then she me she was going to dispute the charge with MasterCard, which she did. She also sent an email to our corporate office. She told a different story to corporate, MasterCard and Angie's list. Bottom line is she lost the dispute with MasterCard so now she is trashing me on Angie's list. I AM truly sorry that we couldn't resolve this issue to her satisfaction. I strive to make EVERY customer happy."
