B & B Electric Inc

I hired B&B Electric sight-unseen from Angies List recommendations, personal research, a telephone conversation with Barry, the owner, and the results of a request for proposal from four area businesses. All thjose I requested bids from were in business, in New Orleans, pre-Katrina. I got 4 bids on the project with the lowest being $4000 and a high of $30,000.

• B&B was NOT the lowest bidder for the project, but after speaking with Barry at length about details of the project, I was convinced that B&B was the best choice for the job. I do not regret that choice!
• Job was scheduled for 10 business days and was completed within that time frame
• Replaced all outlets with modern 3-prong grounded and added new outlets as required by code
• Replaced all switches with modern ones
• Removed all old wiring  
• All crew were courteous and respectful of my self and my mother who were on-site throughout the job duration
• All crew was respectful of our property, assisting us with moving and covering furnature
• Main crew of two kept some odd working hours and would call if they were running late
• We were never totally without power after hours and communicated as what would and would not work before leaving for the day
• All questions we asked were answered cheerfully and with adequate detail
• Crew assembled and installed 4 ceiling fans and two light fixtures. These were all supplied by me.
• Small adjustements to work order were talked about agreed to without hassle, haggling, or whining
• Barry dropped by the job at least daily and was also available via telephone
• Job was completed at the price we agreed to!! 

I just can't complain about this experience. I hired a long established, LOCAL business and was very happy with the results and I certainly would hire them again and would enthusiastically recommend them for consideration if you need electrical work done.

A friends condo association used B and B Electric and she thought they must have done a good job, so I gave them a shot. The repairs mentioned in the previous section were not the main reason I had called them for service. Those were more like "oh well, since I am paying $120 ( approx) service call, I might as well find something for them to fix." The main reason I wanted an electrician in the first place was because the inside dimmer switch on the master bath had blown and needed replacing. When I called and made the  appointment, I told the girl I would email them a picture of the switch and the name brand so they would be sure to have one when they came. After several conversations and emailing of pictures, she assured me that they would bring the switch. She was very nice and cooperative btw. When the electrician arrived, he had no idea what I was talking about. When I told him I had made a huge deal about having the switch when they came, as it would be a waste of time otherwise, he said that he wasn't really with B and B, that they had called him to help with overload. He also said that he'd get the part and come back. I asked about being charged another service call, and he didn't think so, but I called the office to make sure. The owner was most adamant I'd be charged another service charge which I didn't fell was fair, since I had gone to such extremes to make sure they brought it in the first place. The owner got heated and said I was crazy, if they had to come back of course it would incur a service call. I asked if I had a job that took a week, would there be a service call each day? He said that was different. I ended up going to Lighting Inc, buying the part for less than $15, and called a handyman who did it for $40. I paid $55 for parts and labor, vs over $200 that B & B had quoted (parts, labor, and another service call).

Work went well and tthe Band B crew were very professional and thorough. It took 2 visits to complete job. All went great and everything worked just like planned and promised. I obtained 4 estimates for this job, although Band B were not the lowest I felt the most comfortable with them. They were the 2nd lowest bid.

They were a little high. They lost the check and I had to send them another check, so that was a little bit sloppy.

It went very well. I was pleased with them. I would recommend them to anyone.
