We called A-Perfect Plumbing when we noticed a small pool starting to form under our old gas hot water heater Sunday afternoon.  Since it was so late in the afternoon, they said they didn't have anyone to send out at that time, but to call first thing Monday morning.  We called at 8 am on Lundi Gras.  They sent out a team of 2 guys by 8:30 am.  After a 10 minute inspection, they determined that the water heater's casing was the cause of the leak and the unit needed to be replaced.  They sell hot water heaters, so they left and returned a half hour later with a 40 gal. gas Rheem Performance heater.  They installed it, re-soldered some fittings, and extended our exhaust vent higher to bring it up to code.  The heater is more efficient than the old one, everything works great, and they finished by just before noon!  I will definitely call on them again for future plumbing needs.

Years ago, A-Perfect replaced some gas pipes for me. The service was covered under my home warranty. A month ago, when I needed to do some shoring work, I was told by many different repairmen who were having to crawl under the house, that I had tons of dead gas pipes under there, preventing easy access. A-Perfect had just left the dead gas pipes years ago when they put the new ones in. This is a perfect example of the quality of their work. They seem to fix the problem, but never do any more work than they will be paid for. When they came to my house recently, I questioned them about the gas pipes they had left dead under my house, and they said the home warranty wouldn't have paid to remove them. They could have told us that at the time, so we could have had the option to discuss the issue with the home warranty company. I assure you, it would have been less expensive to have paid A-Perfect then and there, even if we would have had to pay out of pocket, than to hire someone years later to come remove those pipes. A-perfect didn't even mention it to us. For all we knew they had removed the old pipes when they replaced them. I don't know what kind of home owner would choose to leave dead pipes under their house, making any future repairs more difficult. We didn't find out until 4 years later, and just thinking about it now makes me angry. Recently, when they re-routed the water pipe for me, I had to pay them out of pocket, because it wasn't covered under my home warranty. They gave me a really good price, but while they were doing the work, they caused an electrical problem and would not even consider taking responsibility for it. They said since they had given me such a good price, they weren't going to pay for any problems that may have been caused by them. I have a feeling they would have taken that stance no matter what price they had charged me. They have also been in the house recently, fixing a clogged drain, and although they did fix it, they were not very concerned about smudging everything they touched or putting their tools on my oriental rugs! I have asked the warranty company not to send them to my house anymore.

They did an adequate job. They stuck extremely close to the terms of the contract. I was also having some issues with other plumbing. It was not 100% clear if the warranty people would cover this. But, the problem is that as soon as they realized warranty MIGHT not cover it, they refused to even evaluate the problem. They simply said they cannot take the chance they might not get paid. I then offered to pay the actual hourly rate for an evaluation/repair, and they still refused. It was not a time issue, as they had not known in advance how long my job would take, and had alloted several hours to my case. Rather strange, overall.
