E Parquet Enterprises

A show was made in the beginning of covering furniture but that didn't last very long. Our home was basically disrespected. Every day I had to move things out of harm's way and re-cover furniture just to have it ignored. Things in cabinets were dumped instead of my being asked to move them. The carpet in the hallway was taken out completely on the first day because they knew it was to be replaced. I discussed with them, prior to starting, the objective of cutting away a strip of carpet along the baseboards so the carpet would not interfere with the paint work. This was the suggestion of the carpet installer. I reminded them of this more than once but was ignored. The carpet was only cut away from one wall in one room. The workmen used on the first day were not very skilled and when I pointed out shoddy work they were replaced the next day with others who were only somewhat better. Every day I had to point out things that had been left unpainted or were badly done, like painting a peeling windowsill before it was sanded. I was told that "an old house can't be made to look new again". Our house is only 40 years old and was not in terrible condition to begin with. The biggest problem was peeling paint on the bathroom ceilings and stains on ceilings in 3 other rooms. I was not consulted as to what type of texture I wanted where it was needed. What was used is not at all to my liking. It was very poorly applied in most places and looks terrible. Door handles were not removed but painted around so consequently most of the handle/lock hardware has paint on it. I was not asked if I wanted the hinges on doors painted and most were painted over which now looks awful. I had a very lengthy check list when they were supposedly finished. They took care of those things even though some of it didn't turn out that well. Two areas in the bathrooms were overlooked and have not yet been done.The texture that was put on the walls is caked on the edges of the tile" baseboards" and needs to be cleaned up and the edges caulked. Several calls have been made with only one reply and an appointment that was not kept. In addition, the baseboards were not completely painted as a consequence of their not removing a strip of carpet along them. When the new carpet was installed it became quite obvious that there was an unpainted strip on the baseboards throughout the house. My requests to have that part of the job completed have been ignored. I decided to hire someone else to do that work because I did not want Parquet Enterprises near my new carpet with paint. All in all, the work done in the house was mediocre, at best. In some places sheer negligence is obvious. For example, after my checklist was completed I discovered the two top shelves on the pantry door had not been painted at all. This was a very bad experience and disappointing results. I will never consider hiring Parquet Enterprises again and only hope I can get them to fix these two remaining problems.
