I hired these guys to erect my steel building. Before they bid the job I gave them a copy of the 90 page instruction book that came with the building. I was assured by the owner Mark Higdon that he had several experienced guys and they could do the job in 2 weeks.

After about five weeks I had to terminate my relationship with these guys. Every time I turned around they were trying to expand their role in the project towards the end they kept increasing the bill and charging me extra for things they had originally told me they would do as part of the original bid. Meanwhile they weren't finishing the agreed upon tasks. They asked for money every week to make payroll come to find out I know of at least one employee that never got paid. They were arrogant and argumentative and refused to follow the instructions provided by the building manufacturer. Their work ethic was horrible I don't think they ever showed up before 10:00 am and most days it was after noon there were several times they didn't show up at all. Then I would have to hear them complain that they were out of money because the job was taking too long. When I finally did run them off I noticed that some of the building materials I purchased had came up missing. There were also reports from the neighbors that they had been defecating in a bucket in the neighbors yard.

These guys are predatory and use intimidation and arrogance to cover up shoddy workmanship. I now have a building that is not constructed properly and is not square. My choices are to live with it or to completely tear the building down and start over which would be near impossible due to the fact that they grouted it in to the foundation improperly. They tried to charge me for materials they had not used and when confronted they became belligerent.

Please beware of doing business with these people I can find no compelling reason to ever recommend them for anything to anybody and they will never work for me again

Mark Higdon listened to our description and concerns about soft areas in our kitchen and the adjoining master bedroom and bath. He and his crew examined the affected areas both inside and under the house. Because it was an immediate safety concern for all members of our household especially my invalid mother, work began the next morning. The job required the men to work for hours in below freezing temperatures, yet I never heard a complaint. The job was further complicated because the work had to be done with the existing upper floor remaining in place. The old foam insulation, rotten subfloor and joists were removed. New sub flooring and joists were replaced. Additional pilings and a grid of support beams were installed leaving us with a safe and sturdy floor once more. After installing new insulation and fabric covering, the men cleaned up behind themselves and disposed of everything. We are very pleased to recommend this company to others.

We gave them a deposit of more than half of the total bid. We signed a contract with 20% off but at the end of the work completed they wanted charge us an additional 20% because we cancelled the shop. We cancelled building the shop but they still billed us the full amount as if work was completed.  They still owe me $1350 for the work that was not completed for shop. They also moved a vent pipe that was in the yard and I never gave them permission to move it or they never explained it needed to be moved. They charged me an additional $300 for that which we did not authorize. It took them 7 weeks that was only supposed to take them a week.
Response from Aluminum & Screen Construction, LLC
"My Response: We signed up for $28,000 worth of work then cancelled $22,000 which leaves $6,000 worth of work and (member name removed) still wanted the discount of 20% off of the $6,000. I split it in half with her and gave her a check for $550 which she cashed in agreement. the pipe which we moved she did not pay the $300 for so i do not understand why that was even mentioned. I know that we did a great job on all the work and due to the rain for several weeks the job did get set back so i apologize for that. I feel that we both got what we what we wanted and it was fair. (member name removed) was in agreement too when she received the $550 check. I apologize again for any problems... Mark Hidgon"

Response from Aluminum & Screen Construction, LLC
"I feel the [member name removed] were taking advantage of me by adding additional work that was not on the contract but they said it was verbally agreed upon by Joey. I did the work on the contract including all addition work not on the contract that I did not get paid for. I know the quality of work was good and the price was more than fair unfortunately I had to draw the line somewhere. sincerely Mark Hidgon"

I had a mixed experience.  My husband was in the hospital when they came and part of it was very well done.  The people that did the wall board and the painting did an excellent job.  Some of the things that they said they were going to do at the end they didn’t do and did something else instead.  I don’t think they used the right kind of preservatives for the door and if I had been home and was having frequent interaction, it would be different.  The people that did the wall board and did the painting did a good job.  The price was reasonable.  They didn’t finish when they said they would so when my husband got home they couldn’t do the final things. The quality of the work was mixed.  The contractor of the manager’s cousin was very responsive.  He was a painter and he told me to let him know what time they were coming and things like that but he was not the actual in charge. Several months ago we had a sliding door that didn’t work and I called this company and the contractor came to our house almost immediately and fixed it quickly.  He did not take any money for that and I did like that and that’s why I called them again when I had a real job.  The people who did the wall board and paint did an excellent and professional job.

After making numerous calls to several different contractors and waiting weeks for them to call back with a quote, my wife and I were exhausted! Venting her frustration at work she received a business card from a co-worker. When Mark showed up scoped the job, ask me what we were looking for, and step by step explained how the process would happen, all my frustration vanished. I was very pleased when he was baled to give me a quote that same day. Overall great experience with Mark and his team got exactly what I was told I would receive. I would highly recommend this company to everyone, and I myself will be using him again in the near future.
