Turned into a nightmare. Ethan Stephens came out to our home for an estimate. We provided him with a picture of what we wanted. He insisted on adding an additional cabinet and appliances. He wrote out a list of appliances for us to go out to Shoppers Choice to order. He took measurements and provided a quote of 12,833 dollars. He stated he would start the job in two weeks. He stated this was his price even if size of kitchen changed once appliances were purchased. We agreed to this and he signed agreement. He requested 1/4 payment up front and this was given to him. One month later he still had not started the job. Numerous phone calls and text messages were not answered. When he did finally contact us he had an excuse of an ill family member. We accepted his excuse and requested he communicate with us any further delays. He agreed. Another week or so went by...finally 4 workers showed up to measure appliances and form up kitchen. It turned out the appliances Ethan listed and we purchased would not fit in the kitchen and size would need to be doubled. His crew was at my home and my husband was present. I was at work. Ethan calls my cell phone and is upset because "the appliances I chose would cause the kitchen to be twice the size". He then requested to add 500 dollars to the price. We agreed because we don't expect anyone to lose money on a job. He then informed me as per our agreement the second 1/4 of the payment was due and I should give check to one of his workers which I did. Another week goes by and no one shows up on the job. Finally concrete mix and rebar are delivered and Ethan states someone will be out the same afternoon or next morning. Two days later crew shows up and begins to pour concrete form. They run out of cement 3/4 of the way and leave! Another several days and no one shows up. I send Ethan a text requesting he meet with us and provide a refund of any money not accounted for in materials and labor and we end agreement. Right away I get a phone call stating they will be on the job the next day and will stay on job until completed. Later he provided me with an email providing a timeline which would have job completed on June 16,2014. We signed agreement on April 15,2014! On June 16 we had a kitchen that had been framed and bricked. No granite, no pavers for patio. Numerous texts were sent with excuses as to why pavers were not started yet received. On June 19,2914 I received a text from Ethan with a first name and phone number. I then received a call from him in which he stated he was "going out of business". The name and number was for a paver guy and a granite place was suggested. He further stated we still owed him 900 dollars but he was not going to squabble over it as he was not finishing the job. We are now faced with getting pavers done and granite. Several estimates later it will cost us 4,000 dollars over the price we agreed to with Ethan. Almost two weeks later we are still at the same point with our kitchen and Yard of Dreams facebook page and website are still up. If you use this guy or his business you are doing so at your own risk!

Pavers and Hardscaping Service, Fireplace Service
$30,000
A timeline of 2-3 months was given for the project that started in June and was finally completed in February. Only after complaining about mistakes and poor workmanship did the owner, Ethan Stephens ever bother to come to the work site, although he repeatedly promised to be here to oversee the work. Had I myself not inspected the work when I came home from work then no one would have seen the multitude of mistakes made throughout the job. The pavers were laid with sand which was done 3 different times over the course of months because the sand would never dry and would simply wash away. The fire pits was constructed with the fire NOT in the center of the pit and entirely too small for the size of the pit. The granite was different colors and cracked then also layer crooked. The kitchen layout too small to fit everything planned. Trying to communicate with Ethan was a joke and everything he promised was usually a lie. I would not recommend this group even to my worst enemy.

$6,000

I have had to retain legal services to recover the amounts I have and will be incurring to remediate the damages caused to my two custom showers by Yard of Dream?s negligence.  More specifically,Yard of Dreams failed to properly seal the showers which has caused the showers to leak into the subflooring and the surrounding areas for the past two years.  As a result, I now have a mold issue in my newly constructed home which has also affected my son?s nursery, including 2 non-functional showers.  Through my

general contractor, we have sent several estimates to Yard of Dreams in a good faith effort to resolve this matter as professionally and expeditiously as possible.  My general contractor informed me that Yard of Dream?s verbal reply to the initial request was to deny all liability, and he did not want to entertain the damages.   I have fully documented the damages with photographs,

a mold report, and third party opinions. The three estimates that have been provided to fully remediate and

repair Yard of Dream?s defect work is over $30,000.00!!

I have had to retain an attorney to proceed with a lawsuit against Ethan Stephens, dba Yard of Dreams to recover the costs

to fully repair their negligent and defective craftsmanship.  However, Yard of Dreams has failed to respond to any communication from my attorney.
