I called pete the service manager on thursday afternoon to schedule a time to bring my truck in, for recall work. I informed him what the recalls were and gave him the vin number of the truck so he could confirm what I was telling him. He did confirm the recalls and we scheduled my truck to be dropped off at 830 am the following morning. I brought the truck in to him the following morning at 8a.m. When I dropped it off to him, I told him that I had my regular mechanic hook up the data relay to check the error codes, and told him my mechanic said the egr valve needs replaced or cleaned. Pete the service manager told me that they would have to do their own diagnostics on it and that the fee was 230.00 plus tax, but told me if i decided to have the egr valve fixed with them that the diagnostic fee would be applied to that bill. So I asked pete how much the charge is to fix the egr valve he looked it up and told me that it cost 350 plus tax. I told PETE that sounded fine, So before I left I PETE and I talked about what was going to happen. Pete told me that the recalls would be done by mid afternoon and then he would run diagnostics on the truck and call me back by friday afternoon at the latest. I waited all day friday and never received a phone call. Saturday morning I received a phone call from PETE informing me that the diagnostics revealed several problems I was told that the turbo needed replaced and the egr valve needed to be replaced, he also recommended the fuel filter, oil filter and ccv filter be replaced. I found this to be strange considering that our regular mechanic performs regular maintenance and had just changed the fuel filter oil filter and air filter 2 weeks ago. so I then asked him what the bill would be to fix the things they recommend. PEEETTTEEE said $3,800.00 I told him that I would have to get a second opinion and I would be in on monday to pick up my truck and pay the bill. So on monday I get there and pay the bill and as I am being handed my paperwork PEEEETTTTEEEEE informs me that none of the recalls were fixed. I looked utterly confused and a little stunned and asked him WHY!!!!!! he told me he had to order parts. I asked him why he would have to order parts for a recall that only calls for a reprogram of the computer,he did not have an answer for me. I then told him that he had wasted my time and ignored the first and only reason I brought it in to him in the first place which was for the recalls not the diagnostics. He told me with a big old smile on his face that it would do no good to argue and if I would like to leave it with him he would go ahead and order the parts and have it ready for me in a couple of days. I took a deep breath at this point and then asked him to explain the bill to me and the things he recommended getting fixed. he was reluctant to give me a price breakdown of the individual services provided but evetually spit out some figures nothing written down though. I asked him how much the egr valve was to fix if I decided to just fix that. Good ole pete then tells me it is over 800 dollars to fix just the egr valve, but that he will not do a partial repair that I would need to get everything fixed with him or nothing at all. I asked him how the price jumped from 350 to over 800 for the egr valve. he said that the 350 dollar quote was best case scenario and that the egr valve was very dirty. I never would have agreed to the diagnostics if he had told me that the egr valve could cost any where from 350 to 800 dollars. I asked him why he didnt tell me the worst case scenario price, and felt that he was a little bit misleading, GOOD OLE PEETTTTEEE smiled at me again and told me that it does no good to argue with him and asked me again with a smile what do I want to do. I had to refrain from telling him what I wanted to do this time. so basically to sum it up PETE is either a shady service manager that stuck a 250 diagnostic fee to me or he is extremely incompetent, either way I would never take my vehicles to riverland dodge in laplace again. And to clarify something, this is a company truck the 250 dollars he stuck to me did not cost me any money out of my pocket, so I am not mad at all about the money. It is the way he handled me and how deceptive he was. I trust our regular mechanic and verified that he did indeed change two weeks ago everything that pete told me needed replaced.

I wrote that review over a week ago, since that time I have burned 2 tanks of gas and have run a product called seafoam through my gas tank. I have had no trouble with my truck at all, the egr valve seems fine. I do not have the check engine lights coming on and the stuttering and hesitating that it was doing when I brought it in for the recall work is completely gone. further proof that pete is a crook and tried stealing money from his customers.
