Having been a customer of Mr. Signorelli's since 1989 when he made draperies for my home at that time, 4 bedrooms, living room, dining room and shades for den, I found him to be trustworthy, nice gentleman and just can not understand what has happened to him. He asked I buy my material then and I bought it for the cornice he was to put up in my den. He has made 2 cornices previously for this window span of 172" (2regular sized windows and one center 84x72"), plus kitchen and master bedroom drapes in this house. He thought my choice of fabric was beautiful against the light teal walls. The material would give the appearance of large teal balls on a dark brown background, floating through the air, if cut selvage to selvage, but it was cut along one selvage which changed the pattern, finishing up as 2 rows of balls marching stiffly one behind the other at top and bottom, rather than 3 rows of balls floating lazily through the air. I am sure he saw the same thing as I did or he would not have complimented the choice of fabric. Mr. Signorelli moved across the lake to Loranger, LA and uses an office at Judy's Workroom in Covington, LA and I think she, or her staff, must be doing the labor. Evidently she could not see the flow of the material. I told him 22" long as that was what he had made the last 2 cornices for that window, but he measured only on one end and picked up the material on July 31, saying it would be returned in 2 weeks. I called to see when he was coming so I would be at home but was given a new delivery date each time. This ritual continued until the cornice was finally delivered 8 weeks later and he did not come to inspect the job.The cornice is too short, shades and security disc are visible. On the right end, the shades are below the cornice. There is a 10 inch hem which could be used to lengthen, but I doubt I could trust him to do it. I have written him a letter in detail about this. Why he did not have the courtesy to return at least one of my calls, I do not know. I am very disappointed in him - not the man I thought I knew. I would not ask him to make anything else for me. My friends were disappointed in the outcome as they had seen the fabric prior to him taking it.
Description of Work: Mr. Signorelli has made 2 previous valances or cornices, for this window area, with brackets. I purchased the material, as he instructed me to do on previous jobs. He was to make a valance for a window span of 172" composed of 2 regular sized windows 6 ft. long adjoining a large window 72"x84" (within and inch or two). He picked up the material on July 31, 2012, saying it would be a show stopper and be ready in 2 weeks. Fabric was dark brown with large teal balls stitched randomly as if floating in the air, when looking at it selvage to selvage against a light teal painted wall. I made a number of callsto be certain I would be at home when he came and was always given another delivery date. 8 weeks later the installer came, but not Mr. Signorelli. The finished product was too short as the shades are visible underneath, the security disc is visible, and part of shade shows below the cornice on right end. I am sure Mr. Signorelli saw the flow of the fabric as I did, but It was cut the wrong way to give the effect I wanted andwhat he had recognized as there were only 2 rows of "marching balls", not the 3 rows of floating balls. Whether he knew it was not what I had wanted and that was his reason for not returning my calls, I do not know. He spoke of having to use this special kind of lining so as not to allow sun to fade the fabric. There is no fabric hanging long enough to be exposed to the outside. The other cornices he has made for this window span were 22" which would have been perfect for the pattern, but he did not make it that long and the height of the windows make them appear naked as though there is nothing covering the window. I know he thinks I should lower the brackets to accommodate his error, but if I were to move, I would want to replace one of the other cornices he made and they would not look right. There is plenty of material he allowed for the hem at the bottom which could be let out several inches, but I don't know if I could trust him or the person with whom he is sharing an office in Covington, LA.
