He is a very nice guy but his workmanship and quality of work as it relates to drywall and painting is less than desirable. I hired him to replace the drywall in a long hallway. Most of the old drywall was previously removed exposing the studs some of which were damaged by termites. The drywall sheets were properly installed however the corner/ edge seams, tape lines, and mudding are at best poorly applied. None of the blue boxes for the electrical outlets and switches have been anchored to studs. None of the faceplates can be installed due to how deep the boxes have recessed into the wall. One of the switches was pushed against the back of the drywall so hard it damaged a 3 in. diameter area around the switch itself. The light fixture was poorly installed and trim around the doors was not anchored properly. After he completed the work he was paid by my father in law who did not check his wor,k so I had no chance to have him fix it before he left. He agreed to come back to fix it but before he did, I had a couple of painters come to give estimates. The work was so poorly done they both gave extremely high estimates mostly because of all the repairs and prep work they would have to accomplish. So instead of hiring them, I rehired James to paint the hallway in hopes he would fix the issues and accomplish the work he should have prior to leaving the 1st time. He did come back and spent over 8 hours over the course of 2 days just fixing mistakes and preparing the newly installed drywall for paint. He primed the walls and his wife painted which did not take long, however it too was poorly done. There are many completely missed spots, lots of paint drips running and a lot of the wood trim has been covered by paint. Again he was paid by my father in law while I was somewhere else on the property and he left without my approval. Aside from the poor workmanship, the flooring was covered in plaster, primer, and paint. The floors are less than a year old so I was upset. I called him immediately and expressed my displeasure. He recommended I used mineral spirits on the floors, use a box knife to cut around the light switch, and install the faceplate. I asked him to please return and take another look at it. He agreed, canceled, and rescheduled. I wanted to give him every opportunity to fix his work before writing a bad review but I have not heard back from him since. In closing, he is a nice guy, up until the end, showed up, called, or texted when he was supposed to, but the quality of his drywall work and painting is less than desirable. Perhaps consider him for other less technical types of jobs. Sincerely, Shawn Q. Pictures of work can be provided upon request.

James was excellent. He came when he said he would and his prices are very reasonable. I'll hire him for other work when I need it in a heartbeat!
