Update 7/12/14-During the first visit, on 6/30/14, it appeared that the outlet outside (that the new outlet was to tap off of) was dead. After messing around with some of the wires in the junction box for the light switches, the old outside outlet was working. The new outlet was installed and tested. A few days later when something was plugged into the new outlet, the new outlet was dead. I called Tangi Electric and Maintenance to come back and see what the issue was.
Turned out, there was a loose wire that wasn't stripped enough and wasn't making contact in a wire nut (and would only make contact when you moved the wires around to get the contact it needed). So the wire was stripped down some more and installed into the wire nut properly.
I was charged another $80 for this. In addition to the original $226.
I am grateful that we found the issue and that it was small but I do feel that perhaps we could have investigated the reason for the outlets to have no power one minute and then have power the next the first time that Tangi Electric and Maintenance was there. This would have a) fixed the problem the first time and b) saved me $80 from having to have someone come out again. It wasn't due to any issues with the new work being done but it seems a little careless to assume that an issue just disappeared on its own.
The electrician was courteous and professional. At the end of the job I noticed that it was a surface mount (on the wall) not recessed in the wall. The electrician explained to me that the wire was coming right out of a stud so he decided to do the surface mount. I asked if that was going to interfere with the range backing up to the wall. The electrician say no that the ranges are usually recessed and we pushed my old range right back into place. Both of us thinking this would work for my new range. When my new range arrived it would not back up to the wall as we thought. I called Tangipahoa Electric again and the electrician was sent back out and after a some work he was, after-all able to recess the receptacle/outlet. The company did not charge me any extra so I was completely satisfied and would definitely use them again.
