WARNING: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! Worst business experience of our lives. From beginning, contractor misrepresented licensing, appropriate insurance, capabilities, experienced employees, and time frame. In our opinion, and the opinion of ALL contractors contacted to REPAIR damage that has been done by Sean Chaffee (d/b/a High Demand Construction), his work is substandard, incompetent, and UGLY. Bids to repair are much higher than the original bids on the projects. The drywall/painting/tile work is so bad that many contractors we have contacted don't even want to tackle it! Sean Chaffee is NOT a licensed contractor in Louisiana, even though he proclaims to be one. He is a great salesman, though, who says all the right things in order to secure your business. Once he has your money, though, you may be in for a horrible experience! Several times, when shoddy work was brought to his attention, he became indignant and threatened to abandon the job--of course, with no refund of the money he had been paid. He said we were being "too picky," as if expecting quality work for good money was unreasonable. He would eventually agree that the work was not done correctly (and he would not have accepted it in his home), but when he tried to "fix" it, the result was always worse than before. We have ended up with walls that are horrendous--uneven texture, sheen, and many raised bumps of drywall mud. The ceilings are as bad--uneven priming and painting, gouges, and uneven lines where the ceiling meets the wall. The bathroom tile work is unacceptable--tiles are placed unevenly, grout lines vary from 1/4" to 5/8", patterns are irregular, sharp edges are exposed, etc, etc.. In my opinion, Mr. Chaffee is incapable of performing quality painting and/or tile work. In addition, he has no crew to speak of, even though he will promise you in the beginning that he does. Workers came and went during the almost seven weeks (we were promised it would take only three) that Mr. Chaffee was in our home. None of the workers who did show up seemed to possess the experience or expertise that he promised us his crew had. After realizing that we were never going to get a quality product from Mr. Chaffee, we asked him to leave our premises. He has lots of our money--over $13,000--and we have three areas in our home that now need to be repaired. After reading this, if you still intend to hire Sean Chaffee/High Demand Construction, I wish you the best of luck. You are going to need it! Whoever you hire, please learn from our mistakes. ALWAYS verify licensing through the state contractors board; make sure appropriate insurance is in place with the issuing company/agent--make sure it covers the type of work being performed on your home; visit a site where your contractor is currently working--talk to the homeowner, see the type of work being done and verify the crew that he employs; do a CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK; and NEVER, EVER pay a large amount of money up front!
Description of Work: Painting and Drywall Work (Master Bedroom)--remove existing "popcorn" finish on ceiling, tape and finish, prime ceiling, paint walls and ceiling. Painting and Drywall Work (2-Story Living Room and Upper Hallway)--repair of walls (seams and joints), scraping of "popcorn" finish on ceilings, tape and finish seams, prime ceilings, paint walls and ceilings. Master Bath Remodel--complete remodel including demolition/replacement of existing shower stall, vanity top, jetted tub and surround, and floor. Also included modifying a ceiling/roofing enclosure and window installation.
