H & R BLOCK TAX SVC

Normally, my husband and I prepare our taxes online since we don't have any special circumstances that would require a tax professional.  However, this past income tax year, my husband changed jobs and collected his 401K from his previous job. We weren't sure how to handle this when preparing our taxes.  I called H&R Block and asked how much they typically charge for filing form 1040.  I was told $80; $40 for federal and $40 for state filing.  What was not conveyed in the conversation is that they charge for each form in addition to form 1040.  So, if you have student loan interest, mortgage interest, child care, etc., each of these forms costs extra.  After going through the whole process, we were hit with a $340 charge for preparing our taxes.  I felt completely fleeced.
Let me say this though, the woman who prepared everything was excellent.  She was very knowledgeable and this review is in no way a reflection of her abilities.
