It was excellent! This is the second time I have them. They did everything I asked them to do. They were professional, courteous, did quality work, and cleaned up after themselves. I would recommend them to anybody.

Now living in my Golden Years, I have had many opportunities to experience contractors of all sorts working on and in my home. Without hesitation, I would consider David Stanley Residential & Commercial Painters among the (if not THE) best I have ever dealt with. I needed exterior painting and minor repairs and this is one of the many companies I researched. I was reluctant to use them at first since their ratings were not as favorable as many others. Nevertheless, when I saw the work they had done in the neighborhood (including work done for my next-door neighbor), I was impressed. Before, during, and after the project, this company’s performance ticked off every single box for things I look for in a contractor: excellent communication, reasonable cost, high-quality materials, meticulous workmanship, attention to detail, excellent cleanup, and professional & friendly employees. The most impressive quality to me, however, as compared to similar contractors I’ve used over the years, was their work ethic. It was the first contractor I can ever recall who put in a full day’s work every day of the week. Others I’ve used would start mid-morning and finish for the day in mid-afternoon and frequently did not work Fridays. David Stanley and his crew literally worked from daylight to dark every day until the project was done. I like that. At the project’s end, I told Mr. Stanley how pleased I was but also how reluctant I had been based on his lukewarm reviews. He told me he had many very well-satisfied customers, but few took the time to write reviews. I agree and it is unfortunate that many people have no problem making the effort to complain, but choose too often not to report their good and successful experiences. This review is intended to give credit where credit is due.

When David came out to look at the job, he told us it would cost substantially more than the Big Deal we'd purchased. Even though it was a price increase, we went with it, because we'd had several painters fall through and the house really, really needed to be painted and the fascia repaired. He and his men came right as we were about to go out of town. When we returned, the house had been painted and looked better than it had before. However, he hadn't reinstalled the window screens, even though he and my husband had agreed he would do that. There were also paint containers still in the yard, and a large dead spot on the grass (presumably where his men had dumped something out). Also, while he had fixed one window, another pane had fallen and he didn't repair that one. We spent the next several weeks playing phone tag with him, trying to get him to come out and fix these problems. He repeatedly told us he was coming out, but never showed up, and when we got ahold of him again, he'd always provide a different excuse (at one point, he said he didn't know where we lived and had gone to the wrong house). I also began to notice when attempting to contact him that he responded much more quickly to my husband than he did to me. It became clear we would have to have my husband be the one to deal with him, which was frustrating, because my schedule is much more flexible.
In the meantime, the fascia he'd repaired began to leak again when it rained.
After almost a month of back and forth, he finally sent some men out, after my husband formally notified him that he had one last chance to complete the job he'd been contracted to do. His men put the screens back up and repaired the broken window. They were also supposed to have resealed the fascia, although I have no idea if they did or not. They left without checking in with me, after they were asked specifically to let me know when they finished, so I could take a look at what they'd done. If it begins to leak again, we're going to have to pay someone else to fix it properly.
In short: David Stanley might do an okay job painting your house, but it's definitely not worth the hassle.

We did hire David as he was recommended to us by Sherwin Williams. He came by gave us an estimate told us to check Angie's list and he wanted cash for the job. We had all of our siding changed to hardy plank and the house was to be painted. First of all, everyday for the 1st week he had different workers, don't know where they were all coming from. Everything they would put up had to be taken down and re-done. My husband and I watched closely as the were putting up boards without even using a level or nailing them into the studs. You could literally pull the boards right off the house. We addressed this issue and Mr. Stanley would argue, needless to say he needs to work on his people skills. And he does not have respect for women which is very disheartening. He told me he would listen to my husband because he didn't fuss at him. I can't even imagine our house if I wouldn't have stayed on top of him. The mess was beyond imaginable, nails everywhere even though I repeatedly ask them to clean it up, boards thrown all over the driveway in no particular order. One day I picked up 36 monster drink cans. When I confronted Mr. Stanley he said they would clean up when they were finished, However the trash cans were right by the cans. In the end he brought in a wonderful man to supervise and correct everything that went wrong and that was EVERYTHING. He does have a couple of great workers that I do appreciate but in the end this four and a half week project was a living H***!! Lastly everyday Mr. Stanley brought his German Shepard and let him have run of our yard. We are very much animal lovers but I don't think this is very professional especially since he did not clean up after him. It costs us money to have our yard treated for fleas and ticks after he left. He did have a worker come by because he was not paid however Mr. Stanley was paid in full (cash).

David Stanley Residential & Commercial Painters did a pretty good job. I like how promptly he came and gave us a quote and how promptly he showed up to do the painting. What I didn't like is that the last day, he left two younger guys here and they left paint cans sitting [00:01:34] They were on my porch, so I was unhappy about that. The younger boys did not do a very good job when they were left alone. That was the downside to it, and I think, overall, did a real good job. If you need a professional or someone to paint your house, they're great.

David showed up promptly and gave us estimate to repair rotten wood and repaint the house. He helped pick out colors and did a fantastic job. When I had issues or concerns he addressed them promptly. I would recommend him to anyone who needs painting done.
