Custom Interior & Finishes

Mr. Bacon came to my home and promised that he could refinish my front doors in one day and they would look "great". I have since been told, it is impossible to do this project properly in one day. I saw the doors after he had put on the stain and two coats of varnish and I was shocked. The doors looked awful! The stain was uneven, the wood grain had been raised and not sanded properly. There was dirt and debris mixed into the finish, visible brush strokes and drips and pooling of stain product in the corner recesses. It is inconceivable to me that someone could represent this as a "professional" job. This gentlemen does not know what he is doing. I have since learned that there are products to treat the wood so it can be sanded to a smooth finish and the doors should have been pre treated before staining. Mr. Bacon promised he would return next week to try to fix problems. I paid him 1/2 of the agreed upon price. I called today and told him not to bother. I have called another provider and hope they can fix the problems. I will probably have to have someone restrip the doors and start from scratch or buy 2 completely new doors.
