My air conditioner had stopped working and rather than me goof with the thing, I called the Home Warranty folk, Old Republic, and they summoned 4 Seasons to my rescue. Technician arrived promptly enough at the appointed hour and day. So far so good. The technician discovered the air conditioner's condensate drain line was stopped up which causes the condensate to collect in a catch basin under the unit. When the basin is full, a float switch shuts off the A/C unit to prevent overflow of condensate. The technician- according to his report- cleared the drain line. He also plumbed in a 1/2" PVC pipe so that, should the drain again stop up, the overflow condensate would drain to my home's exterior. That's not what happened. Instead, he ran the PVC not to the exterior, past the exterior bricks, instead the PVC stopped on the wall's top plate. Thus, the condensate ran down between the exterior bricks and my inside wall, to a window, and then into my home. Well, not all of the condensate went between the walls, some of it ran down the outside of the PVC and soaked up the insulation above my living room... and the ceiling. My mother was, at this time deep into cancer treatment in another State and I went there for several weeks. When I returned home I found an inch of water in my living room, mold on my ceiling and walls and, boxes of "stuff" - having still been in the process of moving into the house- soaked through and through. I did not contact 4 Seasons about the damage and loss they affected on me. I DID tell Old Republic that I did not want ANY of their associates to ever again come to my house (4 Seasons was the second of two losers sent by them) and I don't know if incompetence, stupidity or just meanness is behind the destruction of my home and belongings caused by 4 Seasons: it doesn't matter at this point.... If YOU want to take the chance, go ahead, and call 'em but have a tire iron handy... wish I'd had one.
Description of Work: Company was sent to my home as representative of "Old Republic" home warranty. I had just bought my home and the seller had provided a home warranty with the house. Thus, I didn't "choose" 4 Seasons, they were sent.
