The salesperson I worked with was very helpful, not pushy and honestly good at her job. The furniture sold at Havertys is well made and not cheap quality furniture - the sofa I bought was made in the US and seems to be built to last, I'm very happy with it. Those are the positive things about Havertys - the rest is all negative. There was a lot of difficulty concerning my correct delivery address - I had made a purchase years ago and they still had that address on file. The address was still my mailing address, but the delivery address was different. Even though they seemed to have corrected it during the purchase process (in person at the Havertys store), the receipt they printed out and handed to me had the wrong delivery address on it. I didn't notice the mistake until the next day - I went in to the store personally the next morning instead of calling to sort it out. I received consistent and unified unwillingness to print out the correct receipt for me, including other salespeople I first spoke with (not my salesperson) and the people working behind the counter. None of them felt like the customer was always right - just the opposite. I was finally able to get a corrected receipt but they made it as difficult as possible. I should also point out that when I bought the sofa I also bought a $99 protection plan, and yet they didn't give me any paperwork whatsoever on what that $99 was for when I walked out - not even a brochure. I walked back in 5 minutes later and asked about it, and they tried to shoo me away. When I didn't give up, they finally gave me a brochure, but was told I would have to wait over a month for the actual details on what I paid for. I've bought furniture with protection plans before, and have always been given all the legalese in writing when I paid for the furniture - don't expect that at Havertys. I also went out of my way at the time of purchase to set up a delivery time over a week later that would be convenient for me. I asked for a 12:30 PM or later delivery time (I didn't care if they showed up as late as 8 PM) and they told me the earliest day that would work and it was supposed to be all taken care of. Of course, that's not what happened. The delivery ended up being in the 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM time frame ( I found this out via automated email over the weekend before the delivery, as opposed to a phone call which is what I was told by the person behind the counter when I bought the couch), and when I spoke to my salesperson about it over the phone she had no idea why that happened, but told me there was no way to change it at that point. These are just hitting the high spots of the issues and difficulties I had actually buying furniture from Havertys. The furniture honestly is a cut above what you'd find at most furniture stores and I love that it's American made, but I can't and won't be recommending Havertys to anyone.
