The subcontractors were terrible. They would come late and give excuses ("I had a court appearance..."), were immature and unprofessional, and one day forgot their tools and had to borrow ours. It was a small job and it kept getting pushed back. We eventually just paid them for what was completed and moved on. It often took a week to 2 weeks for someone to get back with us. I wouldn't recommend them.
Description of Work: Repair of roof, framing, and siding damage after Hurricane Gustav. We were supposed to have the fireplace and gutters repaired along with painting the entire house but declined to have the remainder completed by this company.

The contractor was to do a rehab for an apartment unit that was destroyed in a fire. The unit is 600sqft and the fire occurred in late July of 2008. The time insurance was ready to pay Gustov hit. So the job did not start until Late Sept. 2008. One week before Christmas I received the occupancy certificate via email (I live out of state) and was told the unit was ready. I paid the balance in full. 2 days later, I called the contractor and told him the unit was not complete. There were holes in the wall, trim work was not done, floor tiles were cracked, and kitchen cabinet doors were falling off. I was told he would fix that imediately after the holidays. In Feb. 2009 a tenant moved in and we discovered the work was not done. In that time the tenant turned on the HVAC unit and discovered the vents were not cleaned from the fire and smoke filled the room and got into the carpets. Most of the work was complete by mid March. The contractor did not clean the HVAC ducts, clean the carpet, replace closet shelving, or the bathroom mirror. The contractor told me he would pay me for the bills if I billed him but never has. The total bill owed to me is $385.00. Very poor communication. Once the storm (Gustov) hit there were bigger jobs to attend to and my job was pushed back. I've worked with this contractor before and he usually does amazing work. This time he did not perform well at all. I have sent several emails and made phone calls for the money due, but I am being avoided.
Description of Work: The contractor was to perform rehab work to a unit destroyed in a fire. The areas most affected by the fire were the living room and kitchen. The rest of the unit was destroyed by water damage. The contractor was to replace the living room wiring, walls and flooring. In the kitchen he was to replace the floor, reface the cabinets, and replace the appliances. Flooring in the bathroom and 2 bdrms were needed as well. The whole unit was repainted and a new handler was replaced for the heating and A/C.
