Insurance was calling it a "Lead Abatement Certificate" FYI, it took me a long time to figure out what was needed, but Craig confidently communicate with our insurance provider and got it finished with a very quick turnaround.

When I purchased my house in October, I ended up having two inspections done. Craig, with In-depth Inspections performed the second inspection and found major issues that were not found by the previous inspector. Being a first time homeowner, who is not that knowledgeable about important construction aspects that needed to be addressed quickly to prevent costly maintenance, I am very grateful that Craig found these issues and taught me why they were important. He was pleasant and knowledgeable being that he has been in the construction business for 30 plus years. He provided me with pictures and even took the time to educate me about how to better care for my house and items that need monitoring. Mr. Leonard performed a home inspection for me on a property I recently purchased and I found his inspection to be very complete and thorough. He spent several hours meticulously going over the general condition of this home and pointed out several things that needed to be addressed. He's been in the construction business for over 35 years and is extremely knowledgeable with all trades associated with building homes. I received a well prepared report on my new home and would strongly recommend him to anyone that needs a home inspection.

Craig Leonard has completed several major renovations and an addition to my home in the 20 years, I have used his services, as the owner of Craig Leonard Construction. The first time I hired him was for a bathroom renovation, we had a contract. The quality of his work, his honesty and integrity were impressive. We never had a contract after his first job. His handshake is his bond. He has always had a key to my house and the alarm code, not a trust I give lightly. If he said something was wrong, found it done incorrectly from the original construction or from work done on the house before I knew him, I had never caused to doubt him since he would go to the degree in explaining why it needed to be fixed or changed. My wife and I have a running joke whatever Craig says, since he would explain different ways to fix, renovate or solve a problem and our question would be, If this was your house, what would you do?. That is what we told him to do to our house. So even years after that first experience with him, he still explains, I laugh and remind of the saying my wife and I made up. I have no construction expertise but thanks to him and his explaining and showing me things over the years, I have done some small DIY projects around the house. Not surprisingly, a time or two (more than that I am ashamed to admit to) I have called him and said HELP after I screwed something up, he was always responsive, and we both laughed at my goofs. At times, I had to wait for him to start a project because he was busy on other jobs. I always waited since he is the best. He told me he has never advertised in the 40 plus years of owning his own construction company as a Louisiana licensed residential and commercial contractor. I believe him. Word of mouth by his clients and their personal referrals to friends and family kept him busy. His clients became his friends. His home and shop were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, yet he was out there helping clients get their homes in livable condition while ignoring his own needs. Contractors made thousands after Katrina, he did not because he would not change his always fair pricing. After I retired several years ago, I got to watch him work. I was truly amazed and in awe of his skills and knowledge of every aspect of home repair and building, from underneath the slab to the top of my chimney. He is able to look at something and tell what was right or wrong about it. I would look at what he was pointing out and go Huh. He always threatened to charge me double for hanging around, he did not. He always had a very small and trusted crew who he personally supervised daily. When required by code to use a licensed master electrical or plumbing sub, their work and character were personally known and proven to him. I am glad to see him start a new career as a home inspector. The years of being what he calls a hands on contractor has taken a toll on his back and knees. His clients and people who have worked with him are sad to see him retire from construction but are already referring him to friends and family that are looking for a home inspector. His unique life work experience, his college education in engineering management and his unassuming personality will make him the best at his new career. My wife and I wish him the utmost success.
