I admit at first that we were a little apprehensive about what type service and cost would be involved based on a previous bad experience with a different lawn service and also because a couple of the reviews we had read were so very negative. The initial invoice after their first trip was higher than the estimate given (in fact almost double) but they had done some additional work, like bagging leaves, and when we spoke with the representative he indicated that the first trip sometimes does take a little longer and with the additional work it added time. He promised that subsequent jobs should be at or close to the bid price. He was true to his word. All bills since that initial one have been right on target.
We have experienced their service for a few months now and we have been extremely pleased. Their employees are very efficient and fast. They come in and get right to work. They don't stand around talking nor do they spend their entire time there on cell phones like a previous service providers employees did. We have been so satisfied with their regular lawn care service we hired them to finish some landscaping work left undone by the previous vendor we had hired. Once again their crew went right to work and were very professional and fast.
I would highly recommend Grass Hopper Lawns to anyone looking to hire a professional lawn care company.

Additionally, he insisted I knew nothing about city ordinances regarding right of way debris removal, despite my direct experience to the contrary the year before following the purchase of this home, where the city did haul away over 13 small trees alongside their right of way in front of my fenceline. I was told several times that I knew nothing of what I was talking about with regard to my own experiences with debris removal. I several times asked him why he would come to my home if he didn't like the neighborhood but he continually argued about the debris removal, and how what I did was "illegal", when I didn't haul off the debris, the city did.
William Mattox is a full-time police officer evidently trying to discriminate me as a homeowner, so why he showed up at all or dragged out an estimate call unnecessarily for a week should be a red flag to anyone interested in services through him to beware, he is unreliable to say the least.

First, they are very difficult to engage. They do not tell you which day they are coming and whether it is morning or afternoon, so if you work this is a problem.
Second, I obtained the flowers as they were very limited in my choices.
Third, they did not weed properly prior to planting. The dirt was not turned over at all. The roots from the weeds remained in the ground and some weeds were visible before they left the premises. The supervisor, Brandon, told me that the pre-emergent placed in the beds would kill the roots. I know this is not so as pre-emergent sterilizes seeds so that they do not germinate, but does nothing for roots and weeds that are established. I also pointed out some vines in with the Asian jasmine that needed to go, but was told that they would do that the next visit. These people are in too big of a hurry to be thorough and perform according to their contract.
I sent a complaint to this company. I received a call from the "quality control" person whose remedy was they will handle it in 30 days at my scheduled bed maintenance appointment. I told him that I agreed to pay for this service and that I expected the service now, not in 30 days. To distill what he stated, would essentially be that it was too much trouble to schedule the crew to come back out before the next appointment in 30 days. He apparently called to pacify me. In the meanwhile I have been out in the beds to do pull out noticeable weeds so that the beds look neat from the street.
I work over 60 hours a week. This is the reason I hired someone to do the job.

We strive to meet each customers request and budget for the service they requested. Sometimes the customer wants more services than their budget will allow. The beds were extremely overgrown with weeds and it is very hard to get every weed when you have such tight budget. Our Crews do their best in the allotted time the customer has approved. Upon our Quality Control Site visit we meet with [Member name removed] and I observed a few Nutsedge weeds growing in the bed area. I explained to [Member name removed] that crew already went over her original approved budgeted amount and we had given her a $74.30 discount. I explained how we charge and advised her that would send the crew out to solve her concerns. [Member name removed] asked us to leave her property and walked away. I attempted to ask her if she wanted us to continue service and she refused to answer. We have stopped all service at her location at this point."

I own a Limousine business and I I know how perfect customer service is a must. Grass Hopper not only impressed me but, superseded my every expectation. My lawn looks as if it were manicured. My neighbors are jealous and now questioning if they should continue to cut their own grass or call Grass Hopper. I invite and recommend Grass Hopper to all interested customers. The work performed would under any means be considered substandard and disrespectful to any customer. As well as their professionalism. The company had two weeks from ordering the sod to delivery. Knowing the date and time of delivery, all the prep work should have been completed beforehand. However, they delivered the sod in the rain which resulted in it remaining on the pallets for 5-6 days then they rushed to complete the job before the sod dried out and died. The designated work area is in such a worse condition, that a new company had to be hired to not only complete the job but redo what was done. During the course of complaints against the company the owner sent out his foreman to evaluate and reported back that everything was fine. After 3-4 weeks the owner finally came out and saw what was going on. He stated "well its not perfect". Anything close to perfection would be acceptable but, this was just horrible. As a thought, what company does not strive for perfection or stand behind their work? Apparently, this one does not take pride in their work nor hold there employees to any type of standard. The crew placed pieces of sod on top of others, left pallets and other trash around the yard and failed to trim pieces against the building. After multiple request to fix the problems the issues are still unresolved. The owner insisted that any visits to fix the problems would cost me more money. Why would it cost me more money to fix their negligence? Here is a catch, if I did not pay attention to the bill and know what a truck load of fill dirt looked like, I would have been charged for material and services not done. Not only was the yard not rolled as promised, he was charging me for 8 yards of dirt not delivered and a grass cutting visit which did not happen. Also, instead of buying a yard of dirt to fill in areas of low spots , they bought 35 bags of top soil which is considerably more expensive. They blamed me, the weather and every thing else they could think of to justify their actions and incompetence. There was a third party lawn specialist that recommended some options to help however, none were taken. The sections of sod that were dead were cut out and replaced with a completely different type, which is very apparent and looks like a patch job. The side of the house has a huge gouge in it from something which they claim was not their fault. However, it was not there before they started. So I guess little green aliens did it while I was at work. There are so many up and downs throughout the yard that it can be compared to a roller coaster when traversing it. Not only did the work not get completed because the guy giving the quote does not know math but also rutted up the remaining yard with the tractor and left it that way, which resulted in the inability to mow. The city citated me for their negligence, I had the cops called to my door because the sod was in the street and the neighbors complained for the debris left in the road. So instead of the best yard on the block I ended up the black sheep of the neighborhood. The company not only performed a bait and switch but also it seems as though they set the scene up for further expenses. Their customer service, professionalism and scheduling practices need to overhauled. If needed I have pictures to prove all of what is stated. They may have the ability and equipment to cut grass but, I would not ever consider them for any type of lawn care.
The owner blatantly falsifies information and events to cover himself. As stated, the area was not prepared before delivery of sod and I was charged $105 for the dirt that was used to "shore up the mud". The company had two weeks to prep the area and did not attempt to do so until after the sod was delivered and the weather cleared. The day the sod was delivered it began to rain around 1700, so if it were prepared before hand there would have been sufficient time to lay it down before it rained. If I was happy with the end result I would not be providing a negative review. The company did not care for or monitor the post installation and told me that it is my responsibility to do so not theirs. The now dying grass is because it was necessary to hire a different company to redo everything. Unfortunately, the owner does not own up to the short-comings of his company or live up to his own mission statement.

Yes he lied, because the are was not prepared before sod delivery They did not start to do any prep work until three days after it the sod was delivered. You should not allow this service provider to take advantage of people. I have the dates and times of the progress with pictures for proof. Also they charged me for the so called extra dirt to shore up . He is blatantly falsifying events. Too continue hosting this company would be a direct reflection on Angie's list as a customer tool.
"THIS PROJECT WAS SCHEDULED AND GOING JUST FINE UNTIL MOTHER NATURE DECIDED TO ALTER THE SOD INSTALLATION. THE AREA WAS PREPARED AND AWAITING SOD DELOVERY, UNFORTUNATELY IT RAINED TERRIBLY THE DAY OF THE SOD DELIVERY, TO THE POINT OF THE PREPARED AREA WAS MADE A MUD POOL. WE WAITED OUT THE RAIN AND FOR IT TO DRY, WE ALSO PUT MORE DIRT WITHOUT COST TO DRY AND SHORE UP THE MUD, THE SOD WAS LADI AND TREATED TO LOOKING AS IT SHOULD WITH A NEW INSTALLATION, THE PROJECT WAS CARED FOR MONITORED AND ADVISED ON FOR OVER A MONTH, IT WAS ALSO TREATED AT NO CHARGE, OUR FINAL VISIT WITH THE CUSTOMER WAS A GOOD ONE AND HE WAS MUCH MORE SATISFIED WITH THE END RESULT, HE WAS TOLD TO MAINTAIN THE WATERING OF THE LAWN ACCURATELY BECAUSE HE DID NOT HAVE IRRIGATION. THIS PROJECT WAS CHECKED ON JUST A FEW DAYS AGO AND IT LOOKED AS IF IT HADNT BEEN WATERED, OR IF SOMEONE HAD SPRAYED SOMETHING ON IT TO CAUSE IT TO DIE."

Our intent is to satisfy all of our customers and make things right, but you didn't allow us to do so. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that you consider us again in the very near future. Completely overwhelmed, I contacted many contractors, groundskeepers, cleaning services,
etc.
I found GrassHopper on Angie's list and based on the reviews I gave them a call My first impression was that they were fast, professional, reliable and did a thorough job. They weren't the least expensive bid but they were professional and did a good job.

They are very honest - anytime they found jewelry, money, etc., in odd places - it was returned to me. The staff that helped me clean the house was friendly and kind. The landscaping was transformative and beautiful.
I think I will run out of room if I list every single thing they have done to restore these properties. Moving, sorting, landscaping, irrigation - building a patio out of found flagstone and river rock, re-sodding the entire yard with St. Augustine, making use of existing materials to keep costs down.
UPDATE: 10/2/14 - On the downside, tonight I received a bill for $60 for re-programming the irrigation system, which I never asked them to do. I can easily handle that on my own (and it is not a $60 job). The main problem is that their e-mail billing system is consistently buggy, and they will not take responsiblity for it. I once received a bill for a routine lawncut and six hours later received a warning letter that I was late in paying that bill. Somehow, this was my fault. I've received invoices that were not attached or a blank page as though the wrong side was scanned. When I asked that it to be re-sent or mailed, again somehow they said this was my error. I also received an e-mail saying "we're sorry you've decided to terminate your business" when I 'd done no such thing. Again, this was explained that it was somehow my fault. On whole, these are small complaints but they are patronizing and irritating.
Overall they're a good company. If they could get the office end straight and stop insinuiating their customers are too stupid to work a computer, they'd be perfect.
