Gene Lipps Wood Designs

When it became apparent that we needed to replace the old cabin our family inherited from my parents, we knew that we wanted to somehow salvage the eastern red cedar and cypress wood it was built of, to use in the new house we were building. We decided that we would have a dining room table made from one of the cedar doors, and use some of the other cedar to have a coffee table and end table built. We contacted a furniture restorer who had repaired some of our furniture that was damaged during a move, and he referred us to Gene Lipps. Gene's specialty is customized furniture construction, and he especially loves working with reclaimed wood, so he was perfect for this project. We discussed with Gene what we had envisioned and he offered suggestions that made the designs even better. It is obvious that Gene takes a lot of pride in his work and puts a lot of thought into his designs. He communicated with us frequently, during the building process, to suggest modifications to consider, and to just let us know how the project was progressing. We were very impressed with Gene's work. Both the dining room table, and the coffee table turned out beautifully. The craftsmanship is incredible, and both pieces are solidly built., better than anything you would buy in a furniture store. We feel certain that these pieces of furniture will withstand many generations, and it is our hope that they will become heirloom pieces treasured by our children and great-grandchildren. Sentimentally, it means so much to us to have the of furniture constructed from parts of the old cabin that brought so many happy memories to our family, and we appreciate Gene for completely understanding this..
