Randy was very straightforward in assessing what needed to be done and giving an estimate. He scheduled us promptly and showed up when he said he would. Work was done very quickly, crew was professional, cleanup was excellent. Quality of work seems to be excellent.

I found Mr. Baker to be a friendly man, but that's where anything positive about this job ends. I have several issues with the work completed:

1. He did not keep appointments as made, and my job was not completed in a timely fashion. It was literally months between the time I got his quote and when the job was started. I did not mind waiting, but I was not kept informed about when he would be coming to work at my house. He always had another job that had to be done and then he could get to me.
2. His crew removed the shingles and ridge vents from my roof, however, they did not initially re-install any new vents. When I asked why the ridge vents were missing and where my new vents were, I was told that they were going to install box vents. I should not have had to ask -- and there was nothing about box vents in my quote from him. Upon climbing into my attic after the crew left, there are no holes for the box vents he installed, so they are useless and non-functional. They just sit on top of the roof, are too few in number, and there are none on the roof of the porch.
3. I had to remind him that we discussed lead exhaust pipes instead of the plastic pipes his crew installed. They placed lead pipes over the plastic ones. Again, I should not have had to remind him.
4. He measured on two different occasions for the new windows that were supposed to be installed, and still had to reorder a third time. He said he was coming back to install them the following weekend -- never showed up, never called until weeks later.
5. The shingles that he installed are not a color I would have selected. I never had an opportunity to select a color!
6. His crew installed new skylights that are very nice. However, they did not replace the trim around the skylights inside the house. When I asked his son about this, the response was and quot;I suppose we could find someone to do that.and quot; Replacing the skylights should have meant a complete job, returning the skylights to their original condition and appearance, inside and out.
7. Upon my last contact with Mr. Baker (some three months after he had last been to my house), I refused Mr. Baker access to my home to install the new windows, based on his lack of service and lack of any interior completion on the skylights. I was afraid what mess I might have on the inside if they did not complete trimwork around new windows.
8. I had given Mr. Baker one of the shutters from my home so that he could get an exact match for the replacements. He brought new shutters that were not the correct size, and proceeded to argue with me (in front of his crew), claiming that the shutter I wanted was not available. Immediately after this confrontation, I phoned Lowe's (which is where I told him the shutters came from originally), and the shutters are available in the correct size. Mr. Baker left the incorrect shutters at my house after I told him that I did not want them and that they would not be installed. No correct shutters were ever delivered.

His crew did do a good job cleaning up the mess after removing and replacing the shingles.

I have a century plus old building downtown Versailles. There have been problems with the roof since 1991 when I arrived.

This year I decided to bite the bullet, stop making repairs to the roof, and solve the problem using Angie's List.

The original metal roof from over a hundred years ago was under many layers. Randy and his crew removed all of the roof and replaced years of problems with a new metal roof. As with any endeavor it is crucial to communicate well with the folks making your repairs. I found Randy to be very responsible. He went the extra mile to make sure we were pleased.

Took less than 2 hours from the time Randy and his partner arrived, and that includes a trip to Home Depot for a needed repair part(s). I will call on him again in the Spring for a new roof. Very nice, very reasonable. While Randy ran for parts, the other guy stayed on the roof and cleaned the leaves ouf of the gutter while waiting... no extra charge! I thought that was nice.

Randy quoted $650 and came 9/17/11, with his son, to perform the job.

Done quickly, correctly at a fair price.

Randy Baker arrived promptly when he said he would. The 2 guys found vents that were rusted, not sealed, and a skylight that was old, ruined and leaking! The next day they again arrived promptly when they said they would! They replaced the 25 yr. old skylight with a new one, sealing it very well. They replaced other vents, and pieces and parts that needed it. I could see most of them with my binoculars and I also examined the old removed pieces to assure they were indeed defective. Since I'm a 'female' there have been times a company has tried to take advantage of a girl, if 'ya know what I mean! Randy also tightened gutters correctly (according to my Google research) and straightened bent ones. They could not completely straighten up some of the crooked rooflines, nor repair some damage the 1st company had done rushing the job and finishing in almost darkness! My husband and I are totally happy with their work! They were neat and clean, not leaving trash behind. Most importantly, they did NOT bend my gutters with their ladders, as numerous previous workers had done!
I've saved their number on my cell phone as and quot;Randy the Roofer.and quot;
LOL And I will gladly call him when I need any further work!

I called Mr. Baker at 8:30 and explained the problems. He came and inspected the situation and called me exactly when he said he would. After we agreed on a price for the work he stated that he would come that late that same afternoon. He showed up on time and finished the work. The flashing and turbine look great. I appreciate that he was prompt, courteous, and completed the job quickly. The flashing was in very bad shape and rain was expected the next day. After the job was finished, the site was cleaned and all debris was removed.

It was a big repair job. The roofer was very friendly. We weren’t sure that they could fix the leak since it is really hard sometimes to tell from where the leak is coming from. We haven’t had a leak since then and I am very pleased about that. They were here when they said they were going to be here. They finished quickly and cleaned up after the job was done. The roofer had done work for a couple of people that I know here in Danville and I got references from them. So I would recommend him. I got another estimate from another company and there was a difference for about $700 to $800, but they were not going to do all the work that he did. There was no guarantee too. I would use the services of IFixRoofs.com in the future too.

Randy Baker came to give estimate when he said. His estimate was his contract which he signed. He wanted half the money up front which I was uncomfortabel with but he had good references. He and his crew showed up when they said. They swarmed the house and took care of the problems. They fixed anything that wasn't to our satisfaction and cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional and polite. Good experience.
