Great, good job

Rick tipped the dock up to install floats on the away-from-bank side, and then tipped it to install the floats on the bank side, without having to disturb the connection to the dock ramp.
It was done on schedule.

Ricky was great. Called him on November 6, 2014 to inquire if he could help me with my problem. He came over on November 8, 2014 to look at the situation I had. He told me he would have to remove all of the vinyl siding from the garage to find the leak. He showed up on November 10, 2014 and repaired the leak. RIcky was very professional and wanted to make sure the leak was repaired before the rain and cold weather set in. I would recommend him to anyone, and if the need arrives I would use him again. He is a really nice man.

I contacted Rick Henderlight based on another member's positive review mentioning meticulousness, craftmanship, and efficiency, and I'm so glad I did--we had the same impressive experience with him. When he came out to do the estimate, it was apparent that he had an eye for detail that some of the other contractors I spoke to did not. He also set himself apart somewhat by offering to drop off a drawing the next day, just to make sure we were on the same page about the design we discussed (although the drawing wasn't anything elaborate, it was completely adequate and a very helpful touch). It took him a few days to get the quote together, but he was communicative about the delay. Having decided that he seemed trustworthy and that we liked his design better than the rest, my husband and I were bracing ourselves for his quote to be one of the most expensive, so we were shocked when his came in significantly lower than everyone else's. I guess he can do this because he works alone--but we have zero complaints about the length of time it took for him to finish the job. He essentially built the deck in 3 days, working from about 7:30 to 5:00 Wednesday through Friday and only a few hours on Saturday morning. (To borrow the previous reviewer's phrase, he simply does not mess around--no smoke breaks and a quick lunch break). When he did finish, I expressed concern that we needed an extra area of railing, which he was very agreeable about and returned on the next sunny day to take care of. We were so pleased that we've asked him to do another project inside our home, and my father (who ended up talking to him for awhile as he was removing some other debris from our yard), is planning to hire him to build his deck. I would recommend Rick Henderlight Construction without hesitation. Having hired many types of contractors for home improvement in the past 3 years, I now know that you usually have to choose between professionalism and a sense of affordability, but with him you get both.

A few things come to mind when I think about this job: Punctuality, Craftsmanship, Professionalism and Courtesy.
Rick Henderlight came when he said he would and he got right to work. He did not have a brand-new shiny diesel dually truck and custom trailer.but his old truck and trailer contained every tool he needed --and they were all top-of-the-line tools, The job took a little over two days (and the Temps were near 100 degrees) but he never stopped, never took smoke breaks and his lunch breaks were well timed. He simply didn't mess around.
I have never seen a contractor/builder/carpenter who was more meticulous, more thorough or who enjoyed his work more --and the result shows it. For example, he mitered all corners, all deck-board were selected and laid so that none were warped and no knots were showing and, whenever a 4x4 post came up through the deck boards, he actually cut square holes (with a jigsaw) so the boards fit flush all the way around. Our neighbors were all very impressed with the final product (and design) --and our next-door neighbor had him build her a new deck 2 weeks later.
You really have to see his work and watch him to appreciate it. We highly recommend him and will call him again anytime we need something built. Would be happy to show our deck to anyone.
