Mark Antrobus DBA Iron Horse Lawns

Mark Antrobus is a hard worker.  When he cut the grass, it looked great.  However, he needs to stick solely to cutting grass.  The 17 trees he "planted" in my backyard for privacy are dying (today is 5/31/13) because he did not dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and bury the plants under the earth.  He dug a hole maybe 3 inches deep, placed the trees in the hole, and covered them up with the removed dirt,leaving half the root ball exposed.  When I used soaker hoses daily for the past two weeks, the water ran off the plants and into the yard.  The trees would not accept water as they were essentially above ground.
My agreement with Mark was to cut the grass as needed.  I called once daily on May 23, 24 and 25, and he never returned my calls.  I finally left a message that I was worried he'd been in a car accident, and on Friday he called to say he was at the zoo with his children celebrating the end of school, but he would be by shortly.  That was the last I heard of him.  I has not returned my emails.  I paid him in full for all work performed including the "planting" of the trees, and when I left a message saying the trees were dying, I received silence.  It speaks to Mark's character and business professionalism that he won't return any calls now, or even show up to cut my grass.
I've learned not to hire with doing due diligence, and hire nobody without checking references and Angie's List.  Mark cuts grass.  He is not a landscaper, and I spent over $1,000 on the trees now dying.  I am 100% disabled and unable to dig, or I would have been out there myself trying to save the trees.  A new landscaper quoted me more than twice Mark's price to "do it right", but he cannot guarantee he can save the trees after over two weeks of exposure and no water.
Stay far away from Iron Horse Lawns and Mark Antrobus.  You can do better with a professional, not a wannabe.
