I am recommending AGAINST using Oz Electric / Damon Osbourne (Smithfield KY) for any and all electrical services you might need. I hired them in March of 2018 to put in temporary service for a building project I was working on in Frankfort KY. They never informed me that in order for them to put up temporary service I needed to already have my building permit approved. When Damon went to the Frankfort board to get his permit for the temporary service, he was informed that I did not have a building permit. Instead of telling me at this point (when he really should have asked me this when he was hired – or when he quoted the job – I do not do this for a living, I do not know these things like he should) he somehow convinced the inspector to let him do the majority of the work that day and finish the inspections after my building permit went through. He installed the pole and sent me a bill at the end of March 2018. It was probably my fault for paying him for a half-done job but that is what happened. The building permit came in in June of 2018 and it has been impossible to get Damon to do any more work getting the temporary service turned on. I have tried phone calls, texts and emails to no avail. It started with constant excuses and ignored requests. Damon would try to then turn this whole debacle back on me by saying I did not have my building permit when he did the job. Fine, I will give him that BUT – he should have asked me if that was in place, he should not have been allowed to do the job prior to that being issued and at this point I have had my permit for over 8 months with no temporary service. At the end of January 2019, I finally got Damon on the phone again and told him this was getting to be ridiculous. We agreed to part ways if he would refund my payment in full – and he could come to get his temporary pole. I did get a check at the beginning of February 2019 for the full refund amount and deposited it – yet another mistake apparently. I was notified by my bank that the check bounced and they charged me a $15 NSF fee. I again emailed Damon and told him I expected a certified bank check or money order for the full refund amount plus the NSF fee I was charged. I told him I needed to receive this refund by 2/26/19. I have received nothing so I have no choice but to warn everyone against dealing with this highly suspect company with extremely poor business practices. With the lack of contact and no additional follow up check, I have to wonder if he knowingly sent me a NSF check just to try to appease me. I am looking in to legal actions for knowingly writing a bad check. I have also contacted the KY Attorney General and filed a consumer complaint as well as written to multiple electrical associations/boards of which he might be a member. This is just a public service announcement so nobody else falls in to this company’s games.
