Sander Piano SVC

He was prompt and convincing he was great.  He said it would be about $100 if he tuned it once but more if he had to do it twice.  Of course he had to do it twice so it was $180. I had a buzzing on some of the strings.  He fixed a couple in the 1.5 hours he was here (15 minutes of the time was spent writing a list of what was wrong with the piano).  I tried the piano and it seemed ok but I pointed out a couple of notes that were out of tune.  He reluctantly sat down and monkeyed around with them and said they were fine.  He told me he hated my piano and any piano with that type of name on it.  He said he hated to work on them.  He left, after I paid $180, I tried the piano and still had a buzzing in some keys.  I called.  He came back and in about 5 minutes fixed one of them.  The other still made a noise but he left anyway.  It was a pretty lousy, expensive proposition with a poor outcome.  He is convinced he is a great piano tuner, and he might be, but I was left unsatisfied with a piano that was partially in tune and still had buzzing strings that I had to fix myself. He also needs a little work in the interpersonal skills department.

Outstanding work! Hans Sander is arguably the finest piano technician in the city of Louisville, has tuned for major orchestras, and has impeccable credentials in his profession. More than that, he is an extremely nice person who explains the needs of the instrument clearly and concisely. He comes in when promised, does his work with excellent results, and charges according to the work performed. There are no surprises in charges. I most highly recommend this craftsman. I personally and the church have used his services since he first immigrated to Louisville from Germany in the 1970s, where he was trained in the Steinway factory in Hamburg. We don't call anyone else to service our very fine pianos.
