I mistakenly used silicate-based coolant in my car, causing a thermostat failure and grey sludge (a chemical reaction, not a head gasket issue). Valvoline quoted $100 for a radiator flush; thermostat cost $56. Took it to this shop, but they delayed for days, claiming they hadn’t started. They asked me about sludge color despite having the car, then quoted $660 (4.5 hours labor). My mechanic friend said it’s 0.8 hours (he uses the same program they use that tells you how long jobs are on various makes/models/etc.), $250-$400 max. I told them not to touch it, yet they charged a $50 “diagnostic fee” despite no work done (why else would they call me asking what color it is when they had the car?). This shop previously misquoted $800 for an oil leak (later $400), which they never fixed. Avoid this dishonest business—they overcharge and don’t deliver. I’m done with them, and so are my friends and family. Tell your friends and family too, so they don't get burned either.

In both cases they were most satisfactory! Immediate appointment, FAST work, and pleasant to deal with. Very reasonable prices.

I had the truck towed in late on the 1st and they went to work immediately with diagnosing the issue.  I rec'd a call with the estimate and what was needing attn.  They were very fair with the price.  But what was really impressive was their professionalism.  I feel I've found someone I can trust in Richmond that will do good work and not take advantage.  Refreshing.

Rick has done all needed maintenance on my car, he's replaced brakes, rotors, starting motors, belts. My 2005 car has 197,000 miles and is going great, and I thank Rick for that.

I took my car in for a tune up as I had noticed slight changes in performance.  The work came in under the quoted price and was finished on time.  He does what he says he will do and is an honest businessman.

GREAT.
They looked at the vehicle twice, made their recommendations, and charged us nothing.  There analysis was accurate and cost us nothing.

It's an excellent experience.  He's a personal friend and he does a fabulous job for everyone.
