Auto Body Work
Long story short, I was in a motor vehicle accident and took my car to Walters for repair as they have a multimillion dollar facility. It wasn't fixe correctly and actually incurred additional damage while at their facility. If you want to hear all of the details you can read further below. Regardless I will never take anything I need repaired to this facility and would advise others to avoid this shop all together as well. My husband studied auto body repair at our local community/technical college but chose not to pursue this line of work as a career.
Needless to say, I am not satisfied with the service that this facility provided to me and will never go there in the future.
I contacted Walters on Friday morning (as the appraisal from the insurance company had just sent the estimate to me Thursday evening (6-13-13) after the collision center was already closed). I spoke with the service manager the following day (Friday) and was told that they would go ahead and order the parts necessary to repair my vehicle and that I could bring it in 12 days later (6-24-13) for repair. I took my car when Walters told me to (6-24-13) and left it. I was contacted that week and was informed that the parts they ordered were not the correct parts and that they had ordered the correct parts but they would not receive them until approximately 6-28-13. The body shop contacted my husband on 6-28-13 advising the car was ready to be picked up. and I went to get the car on 6-29-13 there were several items that were supposed to be repaired that had not been. We refused to accept the vehicle at that time (as the work was not satisfactory) and were advised by the body shop that they would contact the insurance company to get the additional work authorized. We left the car and were notified the following week that the car was ready and went to pick it up on 7-8-13. When we arrived on 7-8-13 we noticed new body damage (scrapes and scratches) that had no been present when we arrived to pick the car up previously. My husband eventually got the manager to fix the new damage, which they eventually did. The mechanical components were not completed (although they said they had been) but we accepted the vehicle anyway so I could have transportation to my medical appointments. When questioned about the exhaust system (which was bent up underneath the car and was causing the vehicle to smoke we were told by the collision center that they had not in fact replaced the exhaust, they simply heated the metal until they could bend the system to the point that it looked straight. The car was supposed to have been aligned but the car is still making a grinding noise that it had not made prior to the accident and the steering wheel pulls to the side and shakes to the point that is shakes out of my hands when going straight on the 4 lane highway. I asked he body shop technician if it had been driven to make sure that the mechanical work was done correctly and was informed that it had ben although there was less than a mile on the odometer when they logged it in to the shop for repairs.
