Cabinet Making
Gresham had a signed contract, signed architectural drawings, and a check for almost $30,000 (a 50% deposit)to build cabinets for an entire kitchen. For six months, his shop was supposedly constructing cabinets, but we had seen no evidence of progress. Finally, I (home owner) took the General Contractor's rep and the site manager/lead carpenter to his workshop to check on cabinets. NOTHING had been built. In the course of discussions, Gresham said he never had final direction from the architect (he had), and that he checked with a lawyer who said there was no legal obligations to build the cabinets. He also said he fully intended to build them. After the meeting, we had no confidence anything would ever be built. We made other arrangements. Gresham said WE canceled the contract and were entitled to no refund. We never saw a penny back of our $30,000.
