This was a job from an insurance claim due to hail damage. The men who showed up to do the work also brought 2 young men, maybe middle or high school age. They did not arrive for work any day when they told me they would. They started late in the morning and stopped early afternoon. A job that should have taken 2 days stretched to 4+. There was a different man each day that joined them. The first day a thunderstorm came up. They had not brought tarps to cover the roof. When they left I went to my back hallway and water was pouring in through light fixtures, smoke detectors, etc. The ceiling was soaked. I called the owner and he contacted the main man who came back with the kids and got the roof covered enough. By that time the damage had been done to the ceilings in the garage, back hall, part of a bedroom, and some in the kitchen. The owner promised they would stand behind their work and make it right. Several days later when the roof was finished I came home from church to find the roofers waiting for me and saying they were there to paint. I had had no warning they were coming and told them that day was not convenient. When they came back the next day they had another man with them. They promised to cover things before they put Kilz on and painted. The owner had checked all the ceilings and assured me they were dry and the drywall was fine. The couple spots that the drywall tape was lose he promised would be fixed. They put the young men to work in the garage. When I went out they had not covered anything and Kilz was being splattered all over light fixtures and the things on the shelves in the garage. The drywall tape in the hall was glued down instead of being replaced and drywalled over. While the Kilz dried they left one man there to take out the garage frame while they went to another job. He spent most of his time working on his car, then called his girlfriend's family to come start his car. One of the young men that came with them stayed to help. They were still working when the original roofers came back to finish the painting. When they finished and were pulling the paint tape off the wall they pulled what I thought was paint. They also knocked the garage door wires off the reel and had to fix those and left large spaces where the frame attached to the door. That night it rained and when I got up the next morning there was a leak in my window. The 2 main roofers came back and fixed the problem around the chimney area. Later that afternoon I discovered that my camera was missing as well as some money from my purse. The only person who had been in the front part of my house was the friend of the man who was painting. I filed a police report as well as speaking to the owner of the company. After that I had a difficult time getting the owner to respond to my calls. When he finally came out and looked at the places where the paint had been pulled off the wall he did give me money for my camera. He promised that he would send only one man to paint all the places where paint had been pulled from the wall. He got samples and said he would call. I never heard from him and my calls were never returned. It turned out that the paint was really drywall where, evidently the wall was still wet or damaged. I had to get a drywaller to come redo 2 rooms and the garage. There is a large gap between the garage and the garage door frame all around. I have filled that area with sheets of plastic to keep some of the cold air out till I can get the frame and siding replaced. The $500 cost was a low estimate of how much we will end up paying when all the work is finished. The whole experience was a nightmare.
Description of Work: This company was to put on a new roof, some siding on the garage, and replace the garage door frame. They ended up having to do painting of the ceilings inside the house.
