Alec actually performed two home inspections for us. The first one was for a home that we knew was a fixer-upper and we were prepared for the issues we saw. But after spending 5 hours walking through the house with Alec, we knew we could not buy the house. There were some significant issues that caused us to walk away. The $325 was money well spent and I appreciated that Alec asked us to walk through the inspection with him. I learned a lot about the issues that were present and how they could be repaired - even items that would not normally appear on an inspection report.
When that house fell through, we knew we would hire him for our next house. He again spent 5 hours going through the second house (although the seller was present and slowed us down, so it would have taken 4 hours or less, I'm guessing). Alec again did a great job pointing out the issues and offering solutions.
He was very prompt and professional at both inspections and the price was very reasonable.. He had the detailed reports ready for us that evening. He also said we could call him anytime with questions, so I appreciated that his service would go beyond that day.

This is the second time that my family has used Alec Hardy to perform a home inspection.  Since he had done a fantastic job inspecting the first house we purchased (i.e., no additional problems from what was in the inspection report) we were confident using his services again.

This time, Mr. Hardy spent over 5 hours carefully going through all the systems in the house and patiently explaining what was wrong , what didn't meet code, and what could be a hazard to my family's health if left unchecked.  I felt that the inspection was incredibly through and the report that he provided me afterward showed all the detail (with pictures) from the items we discussed throughout the inspection.

Overall, I really appreciated his professionalism and willingness to have some tag along throughout the inspection process.  I feel confident we now have an excellent understanding of what we are getting ourselves into with this house purchase.
