I would like to know why my mother wasn't given an estimate before the repairs were completed. Had she been told the nature of the problem and given the opportunity to authorize the said repair she most certainly would have opted for turning the dial herself thereby saving $58. I understand and have no problem with the $39.99 service call fee. I would like my mother to be refunded the $58 she paid for repairs. It took several days to get in contact with the owner of this business, Lee Bolton. I explained to him what had transpired and he said that he would have to talk with the serviceman. It took another two days for him to call me back and say that the repairs were justified and that he stands behind the serviceman's behavior. When I asked him why my mother was not provided with an estimate before the repairs/dial turning, he promptly hung up on me! I feel this business was given every opportunity to right a wrong and they plainly don't care.
Description of Work: My 80 year old mother recently contacted this business due to a perceived problem with the freezer portion of her refrigerator. She was told by the dispatcher that the service call would be $39.99 and that if repairs were necessary, it would be billed at an additional $98 per hour and the $39.99 service call fee would be eliminated. It was explained that this fee is to cover time, travel and the cost of an estimate. Upon arrival, the repairman quickly surmised that the dial that controls the freezer temperature was turned off. He turned it back on and proceeded to charge my elderly mother a grand total of $98 for "labor"! When she resisted, his explanation was that I came from Cincinnati and you know the price of gas these days. Isn't that the point of the $39.99? I think it takes a very over active imagination to describe dial turning as an appliance repair and add insult to injury to charge a full hour of labor to do so.
