AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION - LOUISVILLE

I had work some one month prior to this problem and right after that work was done we started up the pool filter and the bubbles started. This was not a problem previously! So they came out to check my problem and they said it was a leak in my lines. Estimate came back at $4200. It was upset because I hadn’t had this problem prior to their work and they said the leak was right by the area they had just done. They said it was not their fault and they said they left the job with lines holding pressure. But as soon as I turned filter on the problem was there!! So they had not seen their work while filter was running!! I didn’t ask for free work, I just asked for a price reduction. I emailed and called several times. I was told they would get back with me... and I have heard nothing!! They were unwilling to compromise on the cost and didn’t even show enough courtesy to call me back. I will never allow anyone I know to use them for any work and I will be filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau!!

I called American Leak Detection, left a voice mail and they returned my call promptly. They said they had a crew close to my home, and could be here within a couple of hours. Two men came promptly. They spent less than 30 minutes in my home, and presented me with a $275 invoice. They did all of the things that my plumber had done, but when they looked at the water meter they said I did not have a leak in a pressurized water line. They said the leak must be in a drain line, and recommended that I engage a plumbing company that had a "sewer camera". I believe a $275 charge for 2 men for less than 30 minutes is very unreasonable. It would have been a reasonable charge if I did in fact have a water line leak & the company performed it's normal process in finding the leak. I called to speak to someone about an adjustment to the charge. I left a voice mail. They did not return my call.

We had a leak in the inbound water supply line to our house.  I used American Leak Detection, 502-538-9373, to locate the leak ($350) and considering it was 3' underground I was impressed and felt that was reasonable.  They pump in a helium like gas and use a sniffer to find the leak and they were right on the money locating it. With my son's help I dug the hole down to the joint that was leaking which saved me considerable cost vs the plumber digging it. I then called Norton & Associates Plumbing, 812-948-8828, to come out to fix it.  I felt their charges of $155 were very reasonable.  I chose Norton as they were one of the top rated plumbers in the area on Angie's list.  Both companies deserve their A rating.

Came out once, two men, and within 45 minutes had identified an area about 3' x6' where they detected the leak. They used a gas to pressurize the line and then detected the gas as it rose through the ground. We dug at the center line of the marked area and did not find the leak. We extended our dig zone toward the street and still had no luck. I called the company, explained what was happening, and they got back to me promptly. They had a nearby crew stop by to retest. This crew found the leak in the same general area, but about a foot outside the originally marked area, toward the neighbor's house. Since we had already dug a hole not far from the leak, I and the serviceman from American Leak dug out in the new direction until the actual leak was located. Only took about 10 minutes.

I obviously would have liked to have found the leak closer to the 'sweet spot' marked originally, but I was very pleased with the promptness that American Leak came back out to identify the actual location. Both crews were courteous, professional and knew exactly what they were doing.

We actually used them twice. Two different underground leaks. (the subcontractor that the builder used did a very poor job, when the house was built.) they identified the location of the leak, using their equipment, and dug a basketball sized hole. No backhoes, jackhammers. Just two fellows that worked hard and fixed everything. (the water bill jumped... That is how we knew.)

I would recommend this company to anyone. After two weeks of work on the leak I was in bad need of an and quot;earth angeland quot; and American delivered one.
