My mother was given a quote for $6,000 for a specific area of her driveway. $4/sq foot as they were in the area doing a job and would have asphalt left, then they would come back and do the whole driveway for a total of 14,500. Within 45 minutes the pavers arrived. My mother left to run errands. Imagine her surprise when she arrived home to the wrong part of driveway paved and was told she owed them 14,500. When questioned â the bossâ said they couldnâ t pave that part due to the placement of the basement door. When questioned why he wouldnâ t ask someone before making a change he said she wasnâ t there to ask and no that was not asphalt from another job. He said he would take $11,200 cash. I met my mother at the bank, and when I questioned â the boss â the first thing he said was â I donâ t want to talk to you â when he was told he was not getting any money until the cost was explained, we were told an estimate doesnâ t matter, square foot doesnâ t matter, and when he was told we would pay $5/square if he would give us the measurements. We were told that measurements donâ t matter to just pay our bill and he wasnâ t out to hurt our mother. I knew the square footage and the bill would have come to 8250. My mother being a nice person gave them 10,000. This was a lesson learned for her as she did not get it in writing and it will be a he said/ she said. Overall we feel they set out to scam our mother. If we had not become involved they would have charged her more than double for the wrong job. The gentleman who gave the estimate would not even show his face or speak with us on the phone. He left it all for the boss. This happened on 10/11. We have waited until today to post a review. As they knew we were unhappy, we were giving them a chance to reach out. Crickets. Overall we feel they tried to scam our mother. If you use them make sure you get it in writing, but that might not matter either.
