The Good:
George is the owner of the company and is a delight to work with. This was not his first rodeo and I quickly felt like his knowledge and experience played a major role in the overall end result of the pool. He calls the shots day to day and I did feel like each and every decision he made or helped me make were the right calls. George's son Stu also works hand and hand with him in a tag team approach. Stu does not have the eye or attention to detail that George has but is still great to work with.
The price and overall end product I love. There were some issues that occurred during the course of the build (which I would say were within the norm) that were corrected when pointed out to George. They were happy to adjust the design or layout along the way and they advised me on design options and really allowed me to control the aspects that I wanted to control.
George advised me well prior to work starting on their policy around if they hit rock. SuntimePoolsWest does their own digging and if they hit rock, then they rent the equipment for removal and you get charged only for the gas and equipement rental. This policy isgreat for the customer as many companies subcontract that work out and the cost would have almost been double for removal.
The Bad:
Their sales department is pretty much non-existant. My seeking of prices began early in the year. After a quick discussion with Sales, I had a ballpark figure...awesome. However, promises of sending of quotes and follow ups did not occur as promised. It was their off season, so I somewhat understood, however, I almost chose another company due to lack of followup and response. Further, responses to email questions or inquiries normally take weeks...yes, I said weeks. Often, additional emails after the first have to be sent to finally get a response.
The Contract. Be careful here. On the signing, sales hand wrote into a form contract the particulars about the pool, sizes, dimensions, and extra concrete around the pool. Make sure you know exactly what you are buying as there was a difference between the total square feet of concrete figure quoted vs the dimensions on the contract. They did not match and became a source of debate after the completion of the pool.
Overall:
In the end, I still can't say enough how much I really do love my pool and the way it turned out. I think if the experience with sales was not so negative, that I would have more of a glowing write up. My advice, skip sales and deal with George!
Two weeks later, we had an issue with the small waterfall in our pool. I called Suntime since they had built the pool and was directed to the service department. The service department told me they weren't waterfall professionals and wouldn't come out. After two calls and some pleading on my end, they came out, easily solved the problem, and didn't even charge us. While I wasn't impressed with the service department, they did do the right thing in the end.
Everyone else there has been very easy to work with and have helped us through this first season of pool ownership. Although sme of their chemical prices are higher than what you would pay at a discount retailer, the advice is worth the extra money.
