Carpets or Rugs - Clean at Home
Pathetic. Looks like they just went over the carpet with a wet vac. Don?t waste your money- big rip off.

The worst experience I have ever had with a cleaner. The first "crew" did not clean the carpet well. They refused to move any furniture, even small dressers and cupboards saying it "wasn't their job". (I knew they would not move huge pieces, mirrors or beds but these were really lightweight small items, which we had to quickly move...a couple of pieces were just cleaned around). They were rude and unprofessional, when I pointed out that the edges were still dirty, they claimed they could not clean the edges of the rooms. They left a stain. We had been told it would take about 30 minutes per area, we had three rooms and a hall plus a staircase - they were her 40 minutes total! We complained and another "crew" was sent out. They tracked dirt and mud onto the semi clean carpet, even after I pointed this out they continued to track dirt all over, seriously soiling the throw rug in by the front door. They did get the stain out but they too, refused to clean the edges saying NO ONE cleans edges? They should have clearly stated that BEFORE they agreed to do the job then, if that is true. They left a puddle of water on our hardwood floor, the dirty throw rug and dirt and trash on our walkway. And the carpets still didn't get clean! We have complained and sent requests for help but no one at Stanley Steemer will reply. We even reported them to the BBB and they even refused to reply to them. And I found out sadly that the BBB really does nothing for you if you file a complaint except record it. I do not understand what "Satisfaction Guaranteed" means to them. I was NOT satisfied. And yet not even an offer to negotiate? To me this is the worst way to do business. Not only was furniture not moved and my carpet NOT cleaned well enough, our complaints have been ignored. THAT in and of itself is enough for me to never hire them again.

I don't think I've ever had anything broken. They do a thorough job. Sometimes they consult me before they touch anything. They have a package where they have to come back 3 more times. It's expensive but I would rather they came more than one time.

We did not care much for about it. They could have got spots that we pointed out to them. When they left, it still did not look clean. It was not as good as who we used before. I would tell others to get a second opinion from people that they might know that have used them before.

The loveseat cleaning went fine.
But the rug experience was another story. I had called the toll-free number in mid-to-late September to arrange the cleaning appointment, indicating there were two area rugs in addition to the loveseat. (Stanley Steemer had steam-cleaned both of them at least twice before.) When the crew arrived, they told me the Louisville, Ky., branch had just started doing something new with area rugs -- they would have to carry them to their plant to clean, and it would take about two weeks.
I wasn't happy with that surprise information, but since I had used the company many times before when we had wall-to-wall carpeting, I agreed. After they loaded the rugs in their truck, they gave me the total for the services, including the $288 cleaning fee for the two rugs. I politely said that wouldn't work, because I wouldn't pay for the work until it was done and I had the rugs back. I finally asked them to call their manager and let me talk to him. "Rick," the manager, said he saw my point and said I could pay for the work on the rugs when they came back.
In late October, I realized how much time had gone by (about 5 weeks) and called the company to find out where my rugs were. To make a long story short, I first heard they had misplaced the rugs but later found them, then missed a delivery day promised by the manager, and after another call, finally today (Nov. 2) returned the rugs -- but weren't sure one of them was my rug because they had lost its tag. (It turned out it was ours, thank God.) Because they were clean and I had them back, I wrote out the check as agreed -- but it will be a cold day in h*** before we ever use Stanley Steemer again.

I told them on the phone I did not want the scotch guard. After they arrived, the gentleman told me more about the scotch guard and his quote was a lot less. The ad said they move the furniture. At one point, the man said I needed new entry rugs. He kept trying to sell me things. He said he wanted to show me the mat. I wasn't able to watch the other men work. They finished and left and everything looked good, at first. A few days later I moved a chair and they had not cleaned under it all. There was a table with a lamp, that they had not moved. In the living room they had missed some things.
I called the company and spoke with a manger. He wanted to send another crew out, but I didn't want to deal with it. He made a price adjustment for me.
They only do what you ask if you are watching them.

I was completely satisfied with the cleaning. Men were professional & on-time. Using my ceiling fans everything dried very quickly. I have one suggestion for customer's safety. The cleaners warned me about walking from the damp carpet onto my hardwood floor. There were certainly right. Wet feet on the hardwood is very slippery. However a quantity of water from the cleaning spilled onto the hardwood at each place where the carpet met the hardwood. I had to get out towels & wipe this up after they left. This should be something that they look for before leaving.

Didn't really get out all the dirt, cleaned my landing and refreshed dog smell instead of making it smell good. Area rugs were wavy after wards and 100yr old hardwood underneath became damp - had to roll up the rugs.

The carpet was left soaking wet. Some spots that were on the stairs before the cleaning were still there after cleaning. I got them out myself with a brush and carpet cleaner. My husband had to use our carpet cleaner to suck up the excess water in the carpet. When doing so, the water coming from the carpet was dirty. Our fear was that the carpet would mildew if left ai excessively wet. We have this carpet cleaned at least yearly and this was not the normal amount of wetness. The only thing that worked well was the deodorizer.
