We had finished basement and water started leaking in on carpet etc. this was in the spring of 2008. Rocky was recommended by another person. I asked Rocky why all of a sudden the basement started to leak since it had not before. They told me we had a dry summer which causes the ground to crack and people who never had basement leaks before would get them. It was coming from underneath the basement floor because of the water pressure build up. I did not get other estimates. They came in hammered up concrete around the affected areas. They did not put concrete back to the wall, just under the footers. Thought it was odd but I did not know the difference about the concrete not being poured back to the wall, with the rock that covered the tile being exposed. I did question them when they were putting the rock around the tile about how little rock was put around it.. A guy looked at it and said it was ok. As I said I never had any experience with any type of water proof companies but that did strike me odd for the rest of the tile looked like it had more rock covering it.
All the basement was carpet, except for the laundry room and one room (11.5 X 11.5) which had linoleum. All the carpet and linoleum had to be replaced. We spent $2637.84 on carpet tile. Plus all the clean up of mildew and mold had to be cleaned and treated.
On Sept 20, 2013 we received alot of rain. I went down to the bedroom to change clothes the next morning and felt the wetness of the carpet on my bare feet. I felt around the corners since the room and one corner was sloppy wet. I pulled the bed back and pulled up some carpet since it was tile. You could see the water seeping in under the drywall.
I called Rocky since he had been the one to water proof it. Monday morning Sept. 23, 2013 I cannot remember if he called me or I called him. It seems to me I called him to talk to him about the basement. He came out later that morning to look at it. He run water along the outside basement wall and the water started to seep in. He said the could not come until the following Monday to fix it. He said it could be a crack in the wall. He took a hamer and knocked a hole in the floor where they had previously had poured and cleaned out a hole for the water to seep into incase it rained. He told me how far over to take out the drywall. He said they would fix the problem if it was something they done but he thought I may need to have the outside of my basement wall dug for water was coming in from out there and I would need to have a back hole dig it up to check it. (This did not sound right for all water comes in from the outside and this was a problem the rock and tile should of taken care of) As stated he said he would come out the following Monday and to clean out the hole and see if it was their fault, but I should see about getting a back hole out there to dig it up. There would be no charge if it was their fault,
On Sept. 26, I happened to see a truck up the street J.W. Winters Waterproof Basement sign on it. I stopped to ask about if they dug outside basements. I told the gentleman what was going on with my basement he was in awe of what I told him. He said I should never think about having the outside of the basement dug. He sent one of the workers down to look at the basement. He was in shock that the rock was left uncovered. He told me that he hate to criticize anyones work but that was a terrible job. It was done wrong.
I have gotten 2 more companies to come look at the basement, Highland and Case. Both said the same thing about the concrete not being poured back to the wall.
Larry Logsdon came out from Case. He was very adament about how sorry job had been done. He said we were probably sick from the moisture coming up from the dampness of the rock coming up the walls. We have had alot of ear and sinus issues but this could of been from the dampness and mildew. There was mildew and mold growing back up the walls from the moisture and mud was about 1 1/2 high on the footers in the corner of the bedroom. I told him what Rocky had told me about digging out and he said that is where all the water comes from that it does not need to be dug out. He made the statement he would not live in my house the way the basement was previously waterproofed. He came back out Oct 4 and was still adament about the sorry job Rocky's had done. He said moisture He would not say Rocky personally but referred to them as the company that did this.
I have tore out all the drywall in the bedroom and took down about 3/4 of the paneling on the outer basement wall. I have pulled up the carpet tile in the one bedroom by it being wet and smelling. There are no leaks in the basement walls. Case is going to have to redo everything Rocky did. So I am paying again what should of be done right the first time. Plus I have to replace the drywall in the bedroom and all the studs that are affected by the shoddy work.
I call Rocky back on Monday morning the 30th and told him we were going another route. I was afraid to let him come back in and just fix the corner, for who to say 6 months down the road the other side would start leaking. I have to much money in the basement to take a chance.
I have not contacted Rocky about this, for I do not want anything to do with him or the company. He was here the 23 of Sept., he could see what the other waterproof companies could see and not a thing was said about the exposed rock etc.

Response from Rocky's Waterproofing
"I am sorry [member name removed] I went to [member name removed]'s Home to look at a leak after we worked on his basement and found one small leak in the rear left . The wall had drywall on it and [member name removed] said that he was going to remove it himself , so not being able to see the wall , I went ahead and put a hole in the concrete that we put in so if it did rain that it would go into the hole i put there. I said sometimes that a leak would have to be dug on the outside to seal since his basement wall only went 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch below the top of the basement floor. [member name removed] and I went outside to make it leak with a garden hose and it started to leak but not being able to see where I told him that we would come back Monday with the workers to fix it. [member name removed] said that he was going to have it dug up himself, but called me back and said not to come that he was going to do something else. I am sorry that [member name removed] feels that way but I could have taken care of the problem as we have been in business since 1988.When I was there by myself addressing the problem the drywall was on the wall and could not see the leak! Again [member name removed] I AM VERY SORRY!!! You can ask any of my customers what kind of person that I am and what kind of work that I do!!!!! I believe that you over reacted and the other people feed on that,. Again sorry about the misunderstanding and that you can call me for anything! THANK YOU Rocky Tarrence"

On-time work. Polite workers, who protected the rest of the house from getting dirty while carting out buckets full of jack-hammered concrete. Everybody worked hard and finished quickly, so we had our house back in good time.

Things went very well. The workers were polite and fast. They did a great job cleaning up after themselves, especially considering how much dust their jackhammer generated.
The only negative was that I was supposed to get a phone call the day before confirming that they would be coming that day. Fortunately, I was at home when they arrived. Otherwise, we would have had to reschedule.
The quoted price was $50 below what another company quoted for doing the exact same work.

The cost of installing the pump alone could have been approximately 1,000 -1,200 dollars. We had an estimate a year ago for a sump pump only for 1,200 not including a charge for an electrician. I do have to say that in our city ( Louisville) the homeowner is reimbursed or the plumbing company reimbursed by a contract with our Metropolitan Sewer district.
Nevertheless, we did use Rocky's waterproofing service and are extremely pleased with the results. We choose Rocky's waterproofing service because of other homeowner's experience from the Angie's list reports.
Rocky came out and gave an estimate during the period when we were still experiencing water leakage in the whole basement . He even recommended several plumbers on the Metropolitan Sewer District list if we wanted to use a separate service for the sump pump. We are impressed by his knowledge and honest business practices. We were never experienced any pressured sales tactics.
We know that since the work is completed he was able to accurately assess our basement water problems. The work was completed on time. It took four days since the entire basement was involved. Basement waterproofing is a time consuming, messy , difficult work. All work was done in a professional manner with all dirt, concrete pieces, etc efficiently removed. The electrician came a week later and installed the proper connection.
Rocky addresses any problems and concerns immediately.

The job was completed on schedule and at the price quoted. All the workers were professional, covered items to prevent dust and cleaned up fully. Rocky was enjoyable to work with and is very personable. He has a lifetime guarantee on his work. I was very satisfied with the job and would call them again if I ever have any other basement problems.

Very good. Rocky and his team setup quickly to reduce the amount of dust and debris by setting up a barrier between living area and work area. Once the barrier was in place, the foundation was dug out in specific areas plus cracks identified and filled. Testing was performed by pouring water into the areas dug out to make sure that the water would head to the sump. Additional rock was poured in prior to the pouring of concrete. Patching was completed in the "pipe entry" points on the side of the foundation. Panels were put into place, then new concrete was put in. Rocky and team cleaned up, removed barriers, and left things as was or better than they left it. It took a couple of days for concrete to cure/dry and such. Since then, we have had a handful of major rains and things have stayed dry. Rocky did a good job in assessing the real problem areas and addressed them with an appropriate solution.

The work started the instant I said "lets start". It took Rocky's crew 2 1/2 days to complete the work described above, with little to no mess left behind. If I had to do the work over again, I wouldn't change a thing nor the company picked to do the work. Overall a great experience.

Everything went smoothly from the estimate to the actual work. I got 5 estimates for the same procedure and Rocky's was not only the lowest, he also added a trench from the middle of the floor to the wall because water pooling in the center was my main concern. No other estimate would include that. No other company took my concern seriously.

I appreciated the level of details in terms of diagnostics. They were very knowledgeable and professional. More so than any other company we have dealt with.

I called Rocky, and made an appointment for him to come look at my basement. He was on time and very professional. He came in and introduced himself, and started a lighthearted conversation about all the rain we've had lately and the problems others have had. After a few minutes, I showed him the basement where he measured the length of the walls, and decided where the best place for the sump pump would be. We signed a contract and set a date for him to start the job and again he was on time. I'm very pleased with the work, now I can start enjoying my dry basement. Overall an excellent job.
