All work was professionally done and to our expectations except the oak hardwood floor.    The floor was installed correctly but the finished floor was clearly a different color from the original hardwood we were trying to match.  We had always stipulated that the floor was to be the same.   Old Colony told us the color difference was to be expected, and with time, the two floors would gradually blend together.  Six months later, the differences remained.   One year later, Old Colony came back at our request.  Though there had been some minimal changes in the new floor, everyone at Old Colony agreed that the floors still were quite different.  After being reassured that Old Colony would indeed keep working with us until we were satisfied, we agreed to wait one more year for further aging of the new floor to take place. At the end of the 2nd year, Old Colony came out and saw that  the hardwood floor they had installed still did not match our original floors.  They took a few pieces of the hardwood floor that had been leftover to "experiment" with a new stain to match our old floors.  Unfortunately, Old Colony must have had a change of heart at that point.  We never saw them again.  We have since had two flooring experts come out to look at the floor mis-match.  Both experts agreed that our original hardwood floors are white oak.  Old Colony installed red oak in our Great Room.  The last expert demonstrated for us a simply, easy way to test which type of wood you have.  Unfortunately, Old Colony wasn't knowledgable enough about hardwood flooring to know about this test.  They guessed it was red oak and they guessed wrong.  Sadly, they  didn't  do what they said they would do.  They didn't keep working with us until we were satisfied. They never admitted their mistake and they never came back to fix it.
