Margaret’s Moving and Storage did a fantastic job of moving our furniture from Louisville to Shelbyville! The team was very polite and a prompt at starting when they said they would. They took care in making sure they didn’t scratch the wood flooring at both places! If you want someone to move your furniture the way you would personally move it, then be sure to give Margaret’s Moving and Storage a call!

The crew showed up late, without calling. Part of the crew arrived, smelling of marijuana and proceeded to start work without their crew boss or providing any paperwork. The crew was obviously disorganized without their crew leader, and proceeded to attempt to disassemble furniture which did not need disassembly for moving. The furniture had to be reassembled again and then loaded on the truck. This type of confusion persisted throughout the move. The short of it is that the crew was disorganized and slow. The crew foreman got distracted frequently and did not focus on keeping the crew on task or focus. The move took nearly twice as long as estimated for a crew of 6. The final delivery charge was nearly twice the estimate that was offered when we selected them. Two pieces of furniture were broken during the move, reimbursed at .60c per pound of broken item. Surely there are many reasons why an estimate would be incorrect. I give them leniency on that. The disorganized unprofessional nature of the delivery crew, coupled with the lack of timeliness and lack of communication lead me to think less of the overall experience. Do not recommend.

1. The company's estimator said the move would take three days--It took them eight.Because of the problems that had occurred during our move, I met with Margaret at their office the following week to review what had happened, using my logbook, which I had reviewed with the move boss, "Stormy" Weathers, who's also Margaret's husband and a co-owner of the company.
- 2. The moving crew changed daily with some excellent people and any number of part-timers working for a few hours before leaving for school or another job. (I drove a couple of them out to UPS because they didn't have a ride.)
- 3. Rather than supervising the crew, "Stormy" Weathers seemed to be more interested in getting involved in the actual packing and loading
- 4. Workers shot baskets in our driveway while they waited for something to do on the last day of packing. I found "Stormy' upstairs by himself wrapping vases and packing them in boxes.
- 5. Before the last truck pulled out, nobody went through the house to make sure it was empty so a five-foot stuffed sailfilsh and antique restaurant coffee brewer were left behind. (We found the items the next day and had to pack and move them ourselves.)
- 6. Their truck with moving supplies sat in our driveway for two days after their last moving truck left. I had to call Margaret's before somebody came and drove it away.
- Margaret made copies of my logbook pages, and said she'd be back to me in a couple of days. That was two months ago, and I haven't heard anything from her since the meeting.
- What has occurred during that 60-day period is:
- 1. The furniture and boxes in the warehouse stored on pallets have been unloaded, and we have a two-page list of items found to have been damaged because they were not packed and/or moved carefully. But we have no recourse because of the time that passed since the move.
- 2. Margaret's moving materials were tp be picked up by one of their trucks between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. a month after the move, but their truck didn?t show up until 8:30 p.m. and had only the driver. I had to use a fork-lift truck in the darkness and freezing cold for 2 ½ hours to help him load their empty pallets and other paraphernalia for the return trip to Margarets.
- 3. Last week I opened a fireproof box that Margaret?s movers sealed in saran wrap before it was loaded on a truck. The box had our passports and two bags of silver-clad Kennedy half dollars dated 1976-1977, one with 550 coins and the other with 780 coins. Both bags were still there, but one was empty and the other had only had a single Kennedy half-dollar. A robbery report has been filed with the Louisville police, and
- I have emailed Margaret?s that they may be hearing from a detective wanting the names of everyone who worked on our move.

The moving crew appeared basically on time in a rented truck. They sent 2 men and no tools to breakdown the 3 pieces of furniture they were to move. I told the receptionist that it was a large solid cherry set. That is why I didn't move it myself. So I got them a phillips head screw driver (all I had)and they went at it. About 3 hours later the truck showed at the receiving end of the trip and unloaded the furniture and then with a phillips head screw driver( again provided by me) they attempted to reconstruct the suite. The men were there an additional 2 hours. I in the meantime was supervising other projects going on in and around the house. When they guys were finished, they found me outside and said," We are in a hurry to get to our next job. We didn't think this would take this long. Goodbye" I watched as they pulled out of the drive way and made my way towards the house to see the new bedroom suite. I was shocked to find out that they LOST a finial off the bed post. I immediately called Margarets Moving to have them contact the guys and check the truck,thinking that they just didn't see it and accidently left it there. Margarets receptionist called me back and told me" they found nothing in the truck, and it was my resposibility to check the truck before it left. She said "it said so in the e-mail sent to me to confirm my appointment." I hated to inform her but i had gotten no such e-mail. She couldn't even tell me what my e-mail address was, and that wasn't the point. They moved 3 pieces of furniture and lost an integral part of the set. The receptionist told me all I could do was file a Lost/Damage report. I told her to have the managment contact me. The next day. I called back and was told the truck had been returned to the company they rented it from and it was out of their hands. They could give me the number of that companyand I could call them to see if they found it. I again said I wanted to speak to a manager. She assured me someone would call me. I then filled out the extensive Lost/Damage report on their website and sent it.
In the meantime, I notified the bed manufacturer in North Carolina of my problem, and they sent me a new finial at wholesale price. The part was on back order and they made a special effort to bring my $6000.00 bedroom suite back to its original beauty.
That was 4 months ago....
...I have still not heard from Margarets Moving.

The crew from Margaret's was terrific! They took a lot of extra care to make sure everything was moved safely and securely. The crew worked hard all day and had us moved in our new home in one day!

These guys spent a full day, and worked very hard. They took a lot of care to protect sentimental/valuable pieces, and really went above and beyond when it came to wrangling one particularly heavy & awkward piece up the very narrow stairs in our new home.

Margaret's Moving & Storage were really good with the furniture, especially the wooden stuff. They wrapped everything up real nice in plastic trying to prevent any scratches or damage, they were here when they said they would be, got it done, and didn't have any trouble with Margaret's Moving & Storage. They weren't the cheapest but they got it done quicker with the amount of people they used and it was raining the day we moved so it didn't make it any easier. They were all real nice and courteous.

Movers showed up in the middle of the hour window they gave me in the morning. They actually finished an hour and a half earlier than estimated. All furniture was carefully wrapped and handled. Washer & dryer were carried upstairs. Heavy woodworking equipment was moved with ease. No damage to furniture, tools, or contents. Also no damage to walls or entryways which surprised me given the tight environment some pieces were moved to. Each item was unloaded to the desired location.
Not only were the movers courteous and good at what they did, they kept me laughing the entire time. I recommend these guys to anyone. Please remember to tip them for their work!

Margaret's Moving & Storage's price was reasonable. They didn't mess around. It was a good experience. They didn't scratch or break anything.

Margaret's Moving and Storage (MMMS) moved us from Indiana to Louisville. This was a total house pack and move. The packers and movers were two separate teams of 3 men. They were all extremely courteous and very professional. Although I feel they did a great job overall, I do see opportunities. One..the packers did not appear to have a foreman and therefore, it took them longer than necessary to pack my items...but did they get the job done. They do need to be reminded to mark all boxes indicating the room the items came out of. Had I known this was not being done, I would have made sure it was. I now have a mountain of boxes with no clue what's inside. Not fun. Two...the movers, although great at what they do, damaged the laundry room floor when they delivered the washer/dryer. I am still working with MMS to get this damage resolved. We both work full time and have not had an opportunity to check out all the boxes for damage. I don't anticipate any major damage to my personal items, however, the time has past for us to make a claim if we did.
As I previously indicated, the MMS staff, both in the office and those who did the physical work, were all very kind, professional, courteous and sensitive to our needs. It's never fun to move, but the staff from MMS attempted to make the move as stress free as possible. They took great care of our personable items and treated them as if they were their own.
Overall, I am very pleased with the services I received from Margaret's Moving and Storage. I would definitely work with them In the future.

This was a very good move. The moving team showed up on time. They were both polite and efficient. And the total cost of the move came in almost exactly what the estimate was.
The movers were very conscientious. They asked questions before moving furniture or items that they thought needed extra care.
They listened to my concerns and explanations about various items that were important to me. It was a very pleasant move, because of their excellent service and hard work. I would recommend them to anyone.

We've used them more than once. They are just wonderful. We have a lot of antiques, and they were very careful so we had nothing to worry about there. They really stand behind their service and are very responsive. We've recommended them to our friends.

Were scheduled for noon move, called asked if they could come early we agreed on 10; then called and said they would be at 11, but came at noon. Received a call from 2 different trucks they were coming. The move went smoothly; from 1 2-bedroom assisted living home to another. A short move that took 4 hours and 45 min; 4 hrs was the estimate. The hourly price was less than other movers; they were very nice and professional!

There was damage to an antique loveseat. Margarets had the damage repaired and the loveseat returned to our satisfaction.

They stick to their time. We hired them for manual labor. They were fast and efficient. They showed up quickly. They were safe in everything they did and the hot tub arrived in one piece. Yes, I will use them in the future.
