It took a day, but they had to come back out because they didn’t do something right. They were professional and let me know what was going on. They left the area clean.

Everything went great. They got to the job very quickly upon our acceptance of their estimate. We have gotten a great stand of grass in the area. I assume they also put down some fertilizer as well because the grass came up quickly and filled in very nicely.

I have used Luv-It several times over the past few years, they have dug up a whole yard of over grown bushes and cleared an old perennial garden I wanted to redo. They did a terrific job and were prompt and professional so when I had another project I called them first and got an estimate. Even though I had a great experience with them in the past I always get multiple estimates so I called a few other providers to get their bids, several other highly rated Angies List landscape companies.
Luv-it was VERY reasonably priced by comparison, that combined with my knowing the kind of work they do, I naturally went with them. I don't think I will waste time getting other estimates the next time I need something done in the yard.
Besides the great work they do for customers- they beautify public areas all over town and here in my neighborhood, love that.
Highly recommend.

They did a pretty good job. They did what they had to do. They were very accommodating. They lived up to their guarantee. They planted couple of trees in the front yard as well and the trees died. They came back and replaced the trees with no cost. They were very good on the price and the trees were a little bigger. I think it depends on what I want to be done and it depends on the degree of complication. I would use them for a simple job but for a little complicated job probably not.

We've used them three times over the summer and we love them. They are extremely responsive and friendly. They are professional. The owners are very personally involved with it. They also donate free landscaping around the city, which we think is wonderful.

We are so pleased with the work James and his family and crew did for us. It exceeded all expectations! It started out as just some front yard work, but then morphed into both front and back. There was no heavy sales pitch and I was surprised when he suggested some economical changes to what I thought I wanted. (No need to landscape a bed around a tree I was going to remove in the next year or so; go ahead and transplant some of the plantings I thought should be removed). After several scheduling attempts due to the incredible rainy season this Spring, James and his crew did all the work in less than eight hours on the day of installation - unbelievable. He kept in touch all along the way and he even picked up part of my fountain that I couldn't fit in my car. Not only was his quote less expensive than others', but his vision was far more creative.

Luv-it's attention to detail and care about doing good work come through loud and clear. I feel like I received so much more than my money's worth, both in labor and materials. They even cleaned my patio and fence line so it would all look perfect at the end of install day! I really appreciate meeting people like James and his wife, Kim - makes me feel like there's hope for us all. Go ahead and call them - you'll be happy you did.

Please disregard previous report filed for this company on 3/30/2011. On March 15, 2011 James Weiter of Luv-it Landscaping came to my residence to prepare an estimate for landscaping services. I walked the property with him, pointing out all of the landscaping beds that needed to be mulched. These were primarily in the back yard, with one on the side and two small beds in the front. I indicated to him that the rest of the beds (primarily in the front) had received a heavy amount of (black) mulch the past season and would only need to be topped-off in places. He asked what color mulch I wanted and I replied "black". He asked what type of mulch I wanted. I explained that since many of my beds were raised quite a bit I needed mulch that would stay in place and not slide down the sides. He indicated a hardwood would be best suited and I agreed. A few days later, after receiving and reviewing the estimate, I called the office and told Kim to put me on their schedule. On March 28, 2011 Kim called to ask if they could come the following day. I said that would be fine but I wouldn't be home. She asked if I would leave payment on the premises. After stating that I was not comfortable doing that, I asked what time they would come because I wouldn't be leaving for work until 10:00am. She said they would make sure to arrive before I left. On March 29, 2011 Luv-it contractors came to my home early and began work. James was present but left sometime before 10:00am. I inspected the work being performed at that time, left a check with James' son and left for work. The mulch was wet as it was being applied, therefore making it hard to determine the actual color. The next day it rained nearly the entire day. On Thursday, March 31, 2011, upon returning home from work I was then able to inspect the mulch as it had begun to dry out, and saw clearly that it was not the black mulch I had requested; it was an obvious brown color (see photos attached). On Friday, April 1, 2011, I called the company and spoke with Kim. I explained the situation, indicating I thought some type of error had been made. Unless one is colorblind, clearly the mulch I received was brown. My thought at the time was perhaps either James had forgotten what I requested (he wrote nothing down while he was here) or that his supplier sent the wrong product. Kim pulled their invoice from the supplier and said they had ordered 'Black Forrest' mulch. I again explained that, regardless of the name, it wasn't black as I requested and asked her to relay the information to James and ask him to give me a call back so that we could hopefully resolve the problem somehow. On Monday April 11, 2011, having waited patiently for 10 days for a return phone call, I called the company back. I made several attempts during the day and only received an answering machine. Finally, I left a message reiterating the problem and stating that I would appreciate a return phone call. James called back later that afternoon. I asked if he had received my messages. He replied that Kim had told him I called about 'some additional landscaping work' and that "I" would try to reach him later. I corrected that mistruth and explained the situation for a third time. I had a lengthy conversation with James in which he was extremely defensive, often used a raised voice, and completely deflected the issue. I stated repeatedly during the conversation that "I ordered BLACK mulch and I received BROWN". His responses included the following (paraphrased and in no specific order): Creating mulch is a process and you can't guarantee the outcome of the color; Mulch obtained from different suppliers will not be the same color; If I had known you were trying to match the old mulch I could have gotten it from the same supplier; I gave you a good deal; I could have gotten the mulch from the previous supplier but it would have cost you more; I suggest you live with it and next year you can do the entire yard with the same mulch; I'm sorry you are disappointed but I can't make everyone happy. I REPEATEDLY told him that I was not complaining because the new mulch didn't 'match' the old mulch. Clearly, new and old mulch even from the same supplier and of the same type will not match in color because of aging/weathering. I REPEATEDLY told him I was complaining because I ordered BLACK mulch and I received BROWN. Eventually I realized that this man was never going to admit to a mistake. I thanked him for returning my phone call and hung up. He never once even offered to come back to my house and take a look. He made no attempt whatsoever to correct the problem. This company's slogan is "We Don't Leave until you say you Luv-it". Their estimate states "All material is guaranteed to be as specified..." It is important for me to share this experience so that others may potentially avoid it. I hired this company because they had several good reports. Unfortunately, I did read the previous bad report but chose this company any way. In my opinion, it is a risk to hire this company. If nothing goes wrong, you may be okay. But, if things aren't as you requested, my experience (and perhaps the other unsatisfied customer's experience) suggests James will make every excuse in the book to keep from admitting to a mistake and having to correct it. If you do hire them, DO NOT pay this company until the work is completed.
Response from Luv It Landscaping
"I am sorry for the dissatisfaction of the member. James scheduled an appointment with her at her residence at which that time he told her that her quote is for mulch hardwood. Hardwood mulch is natural mulch that is black in color. She never stated that she wanted black DYED mulch. Hardwood mulch has to go through a process therefore exact color would be nearly impossible to create. We have been in business for 22 years and have never had this sort of complaint about color. I assure you that if she stated that she wanted a quote for the black mulch that is DYED, we could have gotten that for her. I have a invoice from our mulch supplier that says the product is "Black Forest Mulch, triple grind". I would also like to respond to the fact that the member stated that she talked with Kim in the office and implied that Kim told James to call her about more work, and that was not the truth. I would like to say that the member did say she wanted to talk to James about an area in the back or side so I don't see where the "mistruth" was stated. In closing I want to say that I am sorry for the outcome of the mulch for the members, and that I am proud of the work, the quality, and the product that Luv-it Landscaping has been providing for the last 22 years. Thanks Angies List for all the great referrals."

Our backyard had moles last year, not to mention a drain spout that left a huge mud hole where our 3 dogs would have to run through when outside. It was beyond just needing reseeding or amateurs (us). I checked Angie's List and had seen yard signs for Luv It and thought we would give them a try. Jim was wonderful...a true Germantown-kind of guy: hard working, pleasant, professional, and creative... And he is so home-grown, we had some mutual friends. He made some suggestions and we felt very good about using his service. We received our estimate and it was more than reasonable. A week later Jim and his crew came with a truck of sod and mulch. They used a tiller to break up the soil and dug a trench for drainage; leveled it all out and wheeled in the sod. They were very focused workers...really nice guys. They mulched our trees and they look great. They also cleaned up after themselves...leaving no trace of their presence except their great work. We liked that the person who did the estimate came and did the work. Sometimes having 2 different folks do those functions results in having to explain or get involved in the work being done. Not with Luv It. They work out of the Audubon Park/Zoo/St.X/Highlands area of town. They don't mind small projects. We told them we will leave their advertising sign up in our yard until THEY remove it...we were that pleased.

Already did awesome work for us last year eliminating overgrown woody junk, making us a gravel driveway, putting in a long mulch bed (over $2000, but worth it). Again this time, got the job done with the right tools and personnel to make us look good again. I just wish I had found these guys before I hacked away for a year trying to get it under control, with little success. We'd definitely hire them again!

I obtained several quotes for this project. Removing an invasive weed was my primary objective as I had tried to remove it myself for 3 years - finally decided I needed a professional. This was clearly stated to each landscape company I asked to quote the project. I decided on Luv It due to competitive pricing as well as assurance from James that my objectives could be met. I called and told Kim we had chosen them assuming I would be called to schedule a time to review the proposal and schedule a date for the project to begin. About a week later my husband called me from home to say they landscapers where there and it looked like they were about done. I was shocked that they would come to my home with out prior notice to me and with out a final review of the proposed project. I had expected to be allowed to chose colors/variety for certain plants. There were also a couple plants (taxis/cypress) I didn't want in my landscaping. When I returned that evening I was pleasantly surprised by the overall appearance of my yard. The rock drainage system added a nice dimension. However, the lay out did not match the proposal and some of the proposed plants were substituted with something else. I called Luv It to let them know I was less then happy this had been done without my input at all. After a bad wallpapering experience I never allow contractors to do work unless I am home or have used them before and trust their work.I asked for James to return so that we could 'walk thru' the project and let him know my concerns. James came out a few days later and was quite defensive that I wasn't 100% thrilled with his work. I admit I am a tough customer, but I thought for $4000 I should be 100% happy. As the summer went on I noticed that the weed I had explicitly required be eradicated was showing up in a few spots, then in a few more. When I expressed my concerns to James he was again defensive, and said 'it is a process'. I told him that is not what I had been told when he gave me the quote and he assured me he could get rid of it. Over the next few months he came back periodically and sprayed the weed. At this point, they had been paid in full. In the spring, when the azaleas they planted bloomed there were 2 that were not the same color as the rest. I called, told them I would mark them, but it was pretty obvious which 2 they were. They replaced the azaleas but I still don't know if they were the correct color -they did not bloom in the spring when the other 6 did and today they look as though they will die - brown sticks with very little green. On closer inspection it looks as though they were taken directly out of the plastic tub and dropped in the hole where the other one had been...they both sit about 6 inches higher then the others. There are other things that have since died but I will not attempt to communicate with Luv It again. I found them to be down home folksy when they gave me the quote and then turned into straight business by the book after that. James' defensive attitude about questioning anything he had done that I didn't like was very troubling to me. There was absolutely no working together - it was his way or no way and when I would suggest something else he always had an excuse why it wouldn't/couldn't work. And the real bottom line here - the weed is not gone (I spray it weekly with heavy duty chemicals) and the tree stump they were supposed to have ground out is now sending up shoots all over the bed. Aside from the drainage system, my landscaping doesn't look much different then before they did the project.

The job was done in two days and was excellent in all respects. Jim the owner came out to estiamte the work and expalined how he was going to use as much of our existing terrain to redirect rain run off water. The estimate came wthin two days and was significantly less that other landscpers estimates we had received. Importantly, Jim's approach was more eco friendly that others as he use more of the existing soil to make the changes and minimized use of new top soil.

I finally feel like I have a "HOME." I bought my house two years ago and the previous homeowner had never really landscaped around the home. I live on a corner lot and all I ever see of my home is the garage side entrance. All of the previous landscape had overgrown and was disease ridden. I obtained several estimates, but of all the companies I interviewed, he had the best price and his reviews here on Angie's List were all "A"'s. He also had the design element most in line with what I wanted, which was simple, elegant, and low maintenance. The bid was prompt, and once I scheduled work, the work was done in a timely and professional manner. When I first saw the beds and mulch and plantings, I said WOW. My 4 year old daughter also said, "WOW. This is really cool!" We are extremely pleased. I got more than what was on my contract and was not charged extra. The entire job was done in one day's time and is beautiful. The detail of the work included removing overgrown and diseased shrubs and trees. The stumps were ground out. A new planting bed was professionally cut. Extensive plantings including shrubs, trees, perennials, annuals, and mulch were added. I had some low spots leveled with topsoil and then new sod put down. They also trimmed some of the other shrubs around the perimeter of the property. I am extremely happy and pleased and would highly recommend this company. When I drive up now, I am happy to be home!

The owner came and really listened to what we wanted and needed to design the plan. The crew came in at 8:00 a.m. and finished that evening at about 7:00 p.m. with not a blade out of place. They followed the design exactly as promised and even added some extra touches; the owner was here and at another job ensuring that it was done according to how he wanted. Very nice crew and owner with job done exactly as promised. The plants have grown in some and they look wonderful in my new backyard. I was very happy with the job and have recommended them to several people.

EXCELLENT!! They came out promptly when asked to give free estimate. Then we had the detailed estimate with sketches in hand within a few days. The crew finished the job within half a day and left no trash behind. We couldn't have asked or hoped for more. Excellent customer service from beginning to end.
