We got four bids, all for Trane equipment, and selected KY Energy Pro based on best price, $9,400 for a 20 SEER A/C and variable-speed blower system, and reviews. KY Energy Pro was the lowest bid by about $600. Summary: the price was good, installation poor, response to our only service call was good, response to all other issues non-existent. I don’t recommend them. Details below: 1. Installation was very sloppy. They didn’t clean up – there were loose screws all over the floor, the drain tube was installed at an awkward angle, and they didn’t tape any of the joints between the air ducts and the furnace or the furnace and condenser. The installer said someone would be out to inspect in the afternoon but no one came. We called them the next morning and they sent someone to clean up and tape the joints. I had the strong impression this would not have been done had we not called. 2. Our old furnace had a brand new blower in it (less than a week old). We were told the blower would be brought back but it never was. We called repeatedly and asked about this and were given various reasons (person was out of town, new owner, etc.) but never received the blower. 3. The thermostat reads 2 degrees high (compared to several other measurements). We were told someone would come out and fix it and no one has. 4. We had a problem with the air conditioning not coming on, or coming on after a few minutes and running for 1-2 minutes, not even enough for the blower to get up to speed, then shutting off. We called and KY Energy Pros sent someone out the next day and fixed a loose connection that resolved this problem. 5. We were told that our Nest thermostat would cause the blower to run backward and that we couldn’t use it with the new system. Based on this we bought the much more expensive ($400) Trane thermostat which has a poor touch screen, an unintuitive interface and does not allow the temperature to be set via an app. We called four or five times over a period of months and asked for a copy of the technical bulletin or other information that indicates that this is a problem with the Nest but have never received anything. 6. When the air conditioning is on there is a rattling sound, like some kind of plastic or foam parts rattling around in the furnace or in the ducts that can be heard from the master bedroom.

The sales rep was very professional and did not up sell us. They addressed both the heat pump issue and insulation concerns. The technicians performing the work were very professional and did a good job. There was a small issue after install but they came out the next day and promptly corrected it.

Couldn't have gone better. I started off with Brandon coming over to survey my attic. He reviewed with me area's of opportunity to address both a shortage of insulation, but also sealing of various junction boxes and other areas. He was very professional and not sales pushy. We scheduled the job and the 2 workers who showed up were also very professional. They laid down protective tarp on the floor in the house while they accessed my attic and crawl spaces. When they were done they offered to show me all the work and walked me through what they did. They then cleaned up so well you couldn't tell they were there. Highly recommend!

I like dealing with smaller companies, the service is way more personal. They were a few hours late for the appointment but only because they couldn't find some parts. The estimating process through to the installation was handled very professionally and efficiently. Their prices were way more in line with what the effort called for than anyone else that gave me a bid. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

The technician (Chris) that came to service my unit was friendly, professional and immediately jumped into action to identify our problem. Chris was so diligent in his inspection that he noticed I had 2 wires that were installed incorrectly by a previous well known company that had serviced my unit 1-2 years ago. Chris said that the crossed wires were causing power surges that ultimately ruined my capacitor. Had Chris not found this error, I would have been looking at a bill of over $1000 for the repair or $3000 for a new unit. Chris was honest, thorough and quick. Within no time Chris had my part replaced and my air back on at a fraction of the cost. Thank you for everything Chris! Your work ethic means the world to my family and I. I recommend KY Energy Pro to any and everyone with HVAC needs.

KY Energy Pro saved our home ecosystem. I highly recommend them. The owner, Brandon Glover, is a licensed energy analyst and comes recommended by LG&E, so he understands how to address the entire ecosystem of the house. He also has the crew to do more than switch our an air conditioning/furnace unit. Visit his website. KY Energy Pro is adding to its offering of cutting edge services all of the time. Our problems began after we purchased a brand new air conditioner and furnace from a different contractor. Fast forward 18 months later, and the air conditioner quits working in July. The contractor that installed said that there was nothing that could be done since it was a year past the sale, and sent in a tech that couldn't identify anything that was wrong with it, although the unit couldn't cool the house down below 90 degrees. When the salesman called to sell me a new furnace, I was experiencing severe buyer's regret. On a whim, I scheduled an energy analysis with LG&E to get a perspective from someone with no dog in the race money-wise, and found out that our home was as inefficient as an old, Victorian house you would find in old Louisville. I needed new ductwork, insulation, and my furnace/air conditioner fixed. Needing a contractor that could address all of my home ecosystem issues, Brandon Glover at KY Energy Pro was recommended to me--and his team was awesome! Brandon identified a couple of serious problems left by the installers of the original air unit: the furnace was not on a dedicated circuit breaker, and the furnace installed was meant for twice more square footage than our home had. It was discovered that this was meant to compensate for the collapsing ductwork embedded in our concrete slab--a problem that the original contractor did not want and could not deal with. Long story short, KY Energy Pro swapped out our furnace for a more efficient one (free of charge with warranties attached) so that they could install ductwork in the attic with air flowing in the right direction (up instead of down into the slab). We also had them insulate the roof deck as the LG&E energy analyst recommended to ensure the new ductwork was optimally enveloped. In the middle of getting all of this work done, we ran into other problems (electric, gas, and water) which Brandon does not handle, but I cannot emphasize enough how flexible KY Energy Pro is about working around other contractors. Where other contractors might rush to get their piece of a renovation done, Brandon and his team waited patiently for necessary repairs to be performed in order to safely solve for our air system problems. Since the KY Energy Pro work was done, our home is more comfortable and our bills have never been lower. Brandon and team deliver an exceptional customer experience--the Disney customer experience of air flow. Do not hesitate to bring on Brandon at KY Energy Pro to address the wellbeing of your home!

"We are very pleased that you were given the experience you had with our company. We thrive to keep a lifelong business relationship with all of our customers. We also enjoy helping LG&E with their energy analysis to help customer's get right down to the home's loss of energy & coming up with the best solution to rectify it. Thanks again for your kind words we look forward to working with you in the future. Sincerely, Brandon Glover President/Owner KY Energy Pro, Inc. 421 Wabasso Ave Louisville, KY 40209 502-758-5122"

I feel disappointed by several things.
1. Level of care for house and clean up from their work. I asked specifically about whether I should cover/drape/move things and was told no. The first day I came home after they had been working and every possible surface was covered in dry wall/plaster dust. They had not covered anything before starting to cut into walls. Art work, linens, carpet...even my toothbrush was full of plaster dust. They also used my personal vacuum cleaner to try to clean up, which resulted in a clogged filter. Every time they have been here since, I have needed to clean up after them (handprints on walls and ceilings, plaster dust...).
2. Breakage. I have unfortunately found a couple of times when picture frames must have been knocked off walls during their work and were cracked. One was stuffed behind a door. They did not say anything to me. I live alone so there is really no one else to blame!
3. Miscommunication. The new system went in the attic, through a makeshift access door. They had said they would frame out the access door but never have. It has to be unscrewed every time. I later asked what I needed to do as far as filter changing, and they had installed a system where the filter is supposed to be changed every 1 month. They hadn't thought to discuss this with me (there are other choices).
4. It didn't work! The system was installed in the fall of 2014. Initially the cooling mechanism seemed to help (though might have been just the fan). In the winter, it did not seem to help much to heat the upstairs. By Spring of 2015, it was not working at all. Like something went horribly wrong with the wiring or something (according to the first workman, it was not cycling at all). I have had workmen out multiple times now. I now stay home from work whenever they are working since it has gone so poorly in the past, so I am missing work. It is supposedly fixed now. Overall, my electric bills were higher over the winter this year than the previous--so I am not sure I am really saving any despite all the changes and insulation.
The main person I have been working with seems overall nice and trying to be helpful. I believe he knows about all the things that have happened, though he generally sends out other people and has not been here himself. However, it has been a very frustrating experience overall. I have not been offered any compensation for all the stuff that has happened. I am calling the office Monday to discuss and might hopefully be able to have a more positive ending to this story. I am a single woman, so trying to deal with workmen is never a favorite thing, but I feel that so many negative things have happened that I need to stand up for myself since they are not offering anything.

"At the time of your service two company's provided the services you requested (our company shared warehouse and office space with an insulation provider). I am a certified home energy performance analyst, and I did develop specifications for your insulation and heating/cooling upgrades. However, I did not have control over the insulation portion of your service. First I would like to apologize for the disappointment you experienced in using our company. Our technicians have a full array of clean up tools from floor pads and vacuums to brooms and dust mitts, there was no excuse for your home to not be cleaned to our company standards. A technician did brush against a wall and knock a picture off the wall. Placing it out of the way of was in no way intended to hide the incident, but to prevent any further damage. Although accidents in a customer's home are rare, in these circumstances we always make repair to the satisfaction of the customer. The additional cost associated with an attic access frame-out and bib can be over and above what many homeowners want to spend, it was my understanding you declined this option. And, what seemed to be a perfect storm, the manufacturer of the system we installed had a part malfunction unknown to us. By working with the manufacturer and trouble shooting the system with great effort, we found out it was a simple switch. Once the manufacturer provided the corrected part your system was put into proper working order. I had no control over the insulation work so I am unable to address the issues you are experiencing in that area and its impact on your utility cost. However, I would be happy to perform an inspection and advise you of any corrections or changes that could improve your home's energy performance. I assure you I have taken measures to improve our internal and external communication processes, reporting, and follow up - to assure customer satisfaction is 100%. There is no excuse for the poor experience you had with our company. I can only ask that you would allow us another opportunity to provide service to your home with the assurance of guaranteed satisfaction. Sincerely, Brandon Glover"

Being new homeowners and warned about the age/condition of our furnace by our home inspector, we wanted to have an expert come in, completely expecting to be hard sold on a new unit. Technician was extremely professional, gave us a realistic expectation of the lifespan of the unit and priced some of the new fangled energy efficient units for us that we are considering in the future. We will definitely use their services again.

"It is true that the partnership dissolved, however that has been over a year ago. I am not sure who you have attempted to schedule with or contact, but my office has not spoke with you nor do I have any record of a service contract with you. I must assume that you contracted with the ex-partner and that you have attempted to contact him? Nonetheless, if you call my office (or email directly) I'm sure we can find a solution. Thank you and I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced."

They did most of the service as prescribed in the deal, but the technician neglected to replace the furnace's filter.  I've tried calling the company at least once about this issue, but it hasn't followed up with me.

The Heating service in Fall last year went okay, but I faced some issues when scheduling the Air service this year. First, when I contacted 'Steve' as mentioned on the agreement, he never responded back. Then I came to know that Steve has left the company. Then I contacted the company directly and asked for an immediate appointment. Even though i was supposed to have 'priority scheduling' per my agreement, I was given an appointment after 7 days (what a priority!). And then, no one showed up! Now I'm calling to figure out what's going on.
